Social Work Service Provision Mismatch With Service User's Needs

Based on Hardiker's theory of needs,this article through on-the-spot observation of the Wuhan Z Social Work Station,we have in-depth contact with front-line social workers and service providers,and focus on the problem of mismatch between the service provision and demand of the first-line social workers.The mismatch between the needs of social service workers and service recipients is mainly reflected in the following aspects:1.The lack of professional skills of first-line social workers is not enough to support social workers to provide quality services to their clients.In addition,the frontline social workers have to deal with complex and complicated tasks,and usually do not spend a lot of time to do the survey of the needs of the clients.Naturally,they cannot accurately grasp the actual needs of the clients.2.Insufficient participation of service partners.The main manifestations are two aspects:first,the service objects participating in the social work service participate in the superficialization;second,the service objects that have not participated in the social work service are easily overlooked.Through on-the-ground participation observations and in-depth interviews with front-line social workers and clients of the Z social work station,it was found that the social worker service could not match the needs of the service target for the following reasons.From the aspect of social workers:1.The lack of professionalism of social workers,less opportunities for training and learning;2.The social environment for the social workers is squeezed and the administrative pressure is heavy;3.The assessment of the effectiveness of social work services pays more attention to written materials than to see The actual effect of the service.From the aspect of service object analysis:1.The service object's demand is difficult to achieve through service activities;2.The service object's recognition of social service is low;3.The participation of service object is superficial;4.The communication between service object and social worker is not smooth.It is precisely because of the combined effects of these factors that the mismatch between the needs of the social worker's service and the target of the service is presented,and the lack of participation of the service object will exacerbate the unfavorable development of this phenomenon.In order to solve these problems,this paper puts forward the following suggestions on how to improve the mismatch between the needs of social worker service and the service object:I.The professional competence of social workers will affect the quality of social work services,and the improvement of social workers' professional ability is conducive to improving the matching degree between social workers' services and service needs;2.The on-site assessment of the effectiveness of social work services has a positive effect on promoting the improvement of social work service quality.On-site assessment helps to improve the matching degree between social work services and the needs of service users.3.When choosing social work services,the choice of service targets is not It should be based on simple criteria.It should also focus on those who need help most.It is particularly important to establish a platform for direct communication between the target and the social worker.That is to say,direct communication with the client also helps to improve social work services.
