The endless stream of online learning platforms drives the change in learning styles.to some extent,,the blended collaborative learning supported by the online learning platform can make up for the lack of classroom interaction time,reduce learning loneliness,enhance learner engagement,and improve learning performance.Therefore,it is increasingly used in the school field,especially in higher education.However,the application effect of blended collaborative learning is gradually concerned by educators and researchers.No matter from its own practice or related research status at home and abroad,it can be found that low engagement and poor discussion quality have become common and urgent problems for blended collaborative learning.This study is guided by the common problems faced during the development of blended collaborative learning.First,it carries out strategic research on relevant literatures at home and abroad,and has insight into the strategies adopted by domestic and foreign research to solve the above problems and effectiveness,which provides valuable direction and ideas for improving strategies for this study.On this basis,by reviewing the insufficiency of relevant research status,the research ideas of this study are determined.Secondly,this study is based on the basic elements theory of collaborative learning proposed by the Johnson brothers who are representatives of collaborative learning research,and the conceptual framework of blended collaborative learning,extracts the basic elements of blended collaborative learning,which provides a solid theoretical basis for the improvement strategies.This study adopts the way of the design-based research,is based on the theoretical basis of the basic elements of blended collaborative learning,summarizes several strategies to promote the occurrence of these elements.In enhancing personal responsibility,proposes to set up meaningful learning tasks,establish an equal collaborative atmosphere,role play,and focus on process assessment;In establishing positive interdependence,proposes to cultivate learners to build team awareness,maintain team members' friendship,and provide teaching support;In Enhancing promotive interaction among members,proposes to embed social media,monitor team collaboration process;In cultivating interpersonal and small group skills,proposes to skills training such as planning,negotiation,information acquisition and use;In helping group processing,proposes to group summary and reflection.This study attempts to promote the hidden elements of blended collaborative learning through these implementable explicit strategies and provide a new perspective for improving the effectiveness of the blended collaborative learning.To explore the effectiveness of the above strategies,this study applies these strategies to classroom teaching situations that use the blended collaborative learning teaching model to conduct teaching practice research.Measuring learner's levels of engagement and discussion quality in blended collaborative learning by questionnaire survey,content analysis,and interview survey,and continuously revising the strategies according to the feedback of the effect.The experimental results showed that,learners have a high learning engagement under the initial strategies,but the level of discussion quality has not improved.Afterwards,under the reflective strategy based on the discussion content,learners can constantly revise their views and expand their required space,the level of discussion quality has been greatly improved.
