| The development of economy can not be separated from industrialization and urbanization. It presents the dual economic structure of urban and rural areas in China, which inevitably leads the rural labor force to transfer to urban in large scale. In recent years, the demand and supply of China’s labor market have changed, the demand of high-quality labor force in the labor market has expanded, while the demand of low-quality labor force in the labor market has decreased. The peasant workers in our country have a large share in the labor market, and their education level is generally not high,so there are shortage of high-quality labor force and oversupply of low-quality labor force. Moreover, the intergenerational education transmission of migrant workers’ families in China is particularly prominent, which will make the supply of labor market more serious. In this paper, the children of migrant workers are divided into migrant children and left-behind children. In the face of the transformation of economic development mode,we explore the intergenerational education transmission of migrant workers’ families in our country and the educational of migrant children and left-behind children, which can provide a way to optimize educational resources and promote educational fairness,so as to promote the development of economic. We estimate the intergenerational education transmission degree of migrant workers’ families by CHIP2013 data and Probit model.Through statistical description,we find that the education level of migrant workers’ children is much better than their parents as a whole.Through the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the transmission mechanism of intergenerational education, this paper holds that human capital, economic capital, cultural capital and social capital are intergenerational transmission mechanisms, and the agency variables are education, family income, whether the children of migrant workers follow the move and the ways for family members to find work, respectively. We found that the parent’s education and the family income have a positive impact on the education of the offspring, and that the way for family members look for work has no impact on the education of the offspring. That is,the higher level of parental education, the higher level of family income, the more likely child are to go to high school. Moreover, the mother’s highest education had a more impact on children’s access to high school at least than their fathers. And we find that there are obvious differences in the transmission of intergenerational education in terms of gender differences, and girls are more likely to go to high school. We also found that migrant workers’ children’s probability of obtaining high school education is higher than that of their left behind children. The possible reason is that children who follow their parents to study in cities can have better access to educational resources, such as extracurricular tutoring classes, extracurricular books, and so on,and can broaden their horizons.Parents can timely discover their children’s psychological problems and give them counselling, and supervision of their children is put in place. Those can promote the study of the children who follows there parent’s migrant. |
