To carry out extracurricular reading activities is an important means to improve students’ learning ability."The standard of Chinese curriculum for full-time compulsory education" also requires that the total amount of extracurricular reading in nine years should be above 400 thousand words.However,in the field investigation,it is found that some rural schools have encountered difficulties in carrying out extracurricular reading activities because of the lack of books,environment,time and people.At the same time,under the promotion of the policy of "three links and two platforms",the information environment of rural schools has improved significantly.The popularity of mobile phones and WeChat has also provided some information environment for rural families.And the information environment of the reading itself is a variety of,blended,we can read all the time and anywhere,can read a variety of resources.This is in line with the connotation that all learning elements should be properly integrated and fully utilized by blended learning.Therefore,the author selected a rural informatization demonstration school(X school for short)as the research object,which is difficult to carry out the extracurricular reading activities.First,it defines the concept of blended learning,extracurricular reading activities and reading ability.It understands the connotation of constructivism,education communication,the theory of the third generation of activities teaching design and the three generation of activities.The literature analyses the research status of blended and extracurricular reading activiti,es,which lays the foundation for this study.Then the difficulties of X school in carrying out extracurricular reading activities are investigated,and then from the aspects of extracurricular reading resources,environment,mode and evaluation,the extracurricular reading activities based on blended learning(blended reading)are designed for grade four students,reading bibliographies are recommended,class reading angle and electricity are set up.Children reading resources sharing platform,in the information environment of morning recitation and noon,WeChat reading,class reading activities,and other activities,finally improved the reading ability of grade four students in X school,and provided cases and suggestions for the X school to carry out extracurricular reading activities.
