In middle school Chinese textbooks, a "selection" often contains not only the verbaldemonstration of significance, but also the author’s ideological orientation, aesthetic taste, inaddition to reflects a certain era of social life, culture and fashion. The content is so rich thatmakes choosing appropriate teaching materials a problem to the Chinese teachers. WangRongsheng’s classification theory has opened up a new world in Chinese textbooks’ usage, soI think we can choose the teaching content by the different types of selection, and thenorganize teaching according to the different functions of different types of selections.However, Mr. Wang’s classification theory is not perfect. Mr. Wang classifies theselections into four types, namely Fixed articles, Examples, Samples and Materials. Butbetween the Examples and the Samples, there is a lot of cross section, no matter conceptions,characteristics or teaching. Therefore, I decided that it is necessary to put the two types intoone whose teaching focus are both on making students get the language knowledge by readingand learning method, in addiction to form the language ability, and therefore chose this kindof article named " Examples and Samples ".In this work, I use a method which combinations quantitative statistics and analysis tomake a more comprehensive type identification and statistical for the five compulsorytextbooks, and select the typical examples of every type of "selection" with analysising theirspecific compiled situation.In addition, I also take the item A RIDGE HIN TZU as an example, designed differentSample pieces for the three kinds of Fixed articles, Examples and Samples, Materials.I hope this paper could make Mr. Wang’s theory more understandable and promotable,and rich the Chinese compulsory textbooks for high schools published by the JiangsuEducation Publishing House, with providing reference to the future textbooks’ compiling.
