With the development of International Education of Chinese,the number of Chinese learners is increasing nowadays.Well-developed books which attract language learners is the symbol of the development of a language,also,can help language learners learn the language effectively.With the books of Chinese as a second language playing a more and more important role,and children's books of Chinese as a second language which is a branch of reading material of Chinese as a second language and the assistive tool for language learners has been developing accordingly.However,it's hard for learns of Chinese as a second language to find a suitable extra-curricular book on the market nowadays.Obviously,suitable children's book of Chinese as a second language is even harder to find.Majority of the popular children's books are translated version from abroad,such as Grimm's Fairy Tales and Andersen's Fairy Tales,etc.In contrast,foreign extra-curricular book is relatively well-developed and well-spread so that learners of foreign language are easier to find their suitable extra-curricular book.Focusing on the following parts: the physical and mental characteristics of children,the general situation,the theme,the standard of choice,the history and range of the spread and the reasons of being in great demand based on comparing with Chinese and foreign children's books,this thesis summarizes the research methods and strategies of previous seniors,presents and solves some problems.It enlightens us that it's a good way to absorb the advantages from the foreign children's books and apply it to the Chinese.Divided into six chapters,the first chapter of this thesis mainly introduces the background,the purpose and the significance of the research.The second chapter analysis the general situation,the theme,the standard of choice,the history and range of the spread and the reasons of being in great demand of Chinese children's books.The third chapter analysis the general situation,the theme,the standard of choice,the history and range of the spread and the reasons of being in great demand of foreign children's books.The fourth chapter compares those aspects above between Chinese and foreign children's books.The fifth chapter gives recommends about edition of children's book of Chinese as a second language.The sixth chapter summed up the main result lists several shortcomings of the study.The research indicates that the theme which can attract children learners of Chinese as a second language is the fundamental of developing the children's book of Chinese as a second language.Also,it will contribute to the development of books of Chinese as a second language and International Education of Chinese.
