Biological experiment teaching is an important part of biology teaching in senior high school and also an effective link to cultivate the biological literacy of students.The eighth elementary education curriculum reform in China has put forward some suggestions on how to strengthen biological experiment teaching.Aiming at the investigation of biology laboratories,the equipment of modern teaching equipment and some experimental instruments,the opening rate of related experiments,the experimental teaching concept of teachers,teaching ability,teaching methods,evaluation methods and the students' interest in biological experiments and their ability of five senior high school in Wuhai city,this paper conducted questionnaires and interviews,and comprehensively understood the current situation of biology experiment teaching in these five senior high schools since the eighth curriculum reform in Wuhai city.The following conclusions were obtained:The biology experiment teaching in Wuhai senior high schools was progressing:(1)In most of schools,teachers and students had recognized the important status and role of biological experiment teaching.And,they were all highly motivated to further deepen the reform of biological experiment teaching.Among them,83.3% of teachers believed that students' biological quality can be improved through experiments.Meanwhile,students also generally believed that students' ability can be improved through experiments.(2)The teaching mode of biological experiment of teachers had gradually changed to a diversified teaching mode focusing on exploratory experimental teaching.44.5% of teachers would like chose the teaching method of students' hands-on experiments according to the requirements.However,the group cooperative exploratory teaching mode implemented by the five schools successively provided the guarantee for the further transformation to the biological experimental teaching mode.(3)The school began to attach importance to relevant equipment and facilities,such as independent laboratories,modern teaching auxiliary equipment and basic laboratory equipment.This provided important hardware support for the successful development of biological experiment teaching.But it was still the key high school that was superior to the private high school.(4)The full-time experimental teachers were well equipped.80% of the schools were equipped with full-time experimental teachers,which provided important support for the smooth development of biological experimental teaching.(5)Most teachers paid attention to the development and utilization of experimental curriculum resources.They not only used school curriculum resources but also used media resources and community resources,which were important ways to deepen curriculum reform and improve teaching efficiency.There were still some shortcomings in biology experiment teaching in Wuhai high school.(1)Some families,teachers and students had insufficient understanding of the role of biological experiment teaching.Still,nearly 20% of teachers and students thought that doing experiments was just to consolidate their knowledge.As long as they remembered the knowledge points,it didn't matter whether they do experiments or not.(2)There was still a shortage of some equipment in the laboratory.Especially the equipment needed for the experiment in the elective course.For example,the preparation rate of thermostatic incubator was only 20%,which obviously affected the development of relevant experiments.(3)The time and funding of experimental courses were generally insufficient,and there was not enough time and money to set up experiments.(4)Some teachers' experimental teaching methods could not meet the standard requirements,and 25% of teachers still focus on oral teaching experiments.(5)The experimental evaluation system was not perfect enough.33.7% of teachers evaluated students' experiments in the form of experimental reports or written examinations,and could not jointly evaluate students' experimental process,experimental ability,emotional attitude and values.The author put forward the following suggestions: The concept of experimental teaching ought to be changed from three aspects: school,family and society.Investment of educational funds should be increased to provide financial guarantee for the smooth development of experimental teaching in schools.Based on the existing experimental conditions,the school need to purchase new instruments,reagents and various supporting facilities to meet the requirements of teaching materials and experiments.Teachers should set up the concept of lifelong learning and enrich themselves constantly,and students should be evaluated with multiple goals and diversified approach.
