The cultivation of the core literacy of geography has become the focus of the reform of geography education in China.In the 2011 edition of the Geography Curriculum Standards for Full-time Compulsory Education promulgated by the Ministry of Education and the 2017 edition of the Geography Curriculum Standards for Ordinary Senior High Schools,the requirements for the cultivation of students' subject competence and subject literacy are clearly stated.Moreover,the characteristics of geography also determine that teaching "useful geography knowledge for life and useful for lifelong development" has become one of the core of middle school geography teaching,especially junior high school geography teaching.Current affairs are real events that take place in life.Applying them as teaching materials in teaching can not only stimulate students 'interest in learning,improve students' ability to learn independently,but also help cultivate students' practical ability in real life.It is of great significance to improve students 'core literacy in geography.The purpose of this study is to understand the current situation of the application of current affairs material in junior high school geography teaching,to explore the overall level of junior high school geography teachers 'use of current events material for teaching,to find out the existing problems and to analyze the causes.It also puts forward the promotion strategy of using current events material for teaching.In order to achieve the research purpose,this study adopts the mixed research method of "quantitative + qualitative".In the course of implementation,it includes literature research method,questionnaire survey method,interview method,case analysis method,and comparative analysis method.This study mainly has the following parts:The first part: introduce the research background,clarify the research significance,research problems and content,determine the research ideas and framework,define the relevant concepts.The second part: combs through the literature,grasps the current current situation of current affairs material in the middle school geography teaching application research present situation,the main research content and the direction,and carries on the review to the literature.The third part: The quantitative research method is used to investigate the application of current affairs material in junior high school geography teaching.This paper expounds the process of designing and compiling the questionnaire,the results of the reliability and validity test,and the statistical analysis of the survey results.This study makes statistical analysis of the survey results from two aspects: general descriptive statistical analysis and demographic background factor difference analysis.General descriptive statistical analysis: statistical analysis of sample basic information data,self-assessment table data,understanding of the overall level of current affairs material in the application of geographical teaching in junior high school,starting from the four dimensions of teaching preparation,teaching implementation,teaching effectiveness,and teacher quality.The score distribution of the four dimensions and the score level were obtained.Differentiation analysis of demographic background factors: the factors of gender,education,teaching age,job title and other factors in the survey samples were examined as a whole and the differences of various dimensions,and the characteristics of current affairs materials applied in junior high school geography teaching under different demographic background factors were analyzed.The fourth part: the use of qualitative research method,teachers applied current affairs material teaching case to carry on the research and analysis.After class reflection,through in-depth interviews with different types of teachers(experienced teachers and novice teachers),we further explore the problems existing in the application of current affairs materials in junior high school geography teaching.The fifth part: existing problems and countermeasures research.Based on the analysis results of the previous article,it is found that there are problems in the application of current affairs material in the geography teaching of junior high school.There are obvious differences in the application level of current affairs material injunior high school geography teaching,and the teachers 'initiative in using current affairs material for teaching is insufficient.The main position of students is not obvious,and the integration level of current affairs material and geography teaching is low.The main reasons for these problems are:(1)teachers 'lack of learning and innovation in post-job teaching;(2)Teachers 'grasp of the teaching level is generally shallow;(3)The subject characteristics of the junior high school geography discipline are short school system and little school time.Put forward a targeted strategy to the existing problems:(1)Choose the best teaching method and predict whether the current affairs materials used are suitable for teaching.(2)Select current affairs materials to achieve a large use of small materials and a large number of materials.(3)Grasp the teaching details and highly integrate current affairs materials and geographical knowledge.(4)Pay attention to ability development,cultivate students 'ability to extract geographical knowledge points in current affairs materials,and improve students' geographical core literacy.Due to the limited time and level,there are still some deficiencies in this study.It is hoped that relevant conclusions and countermeasures can promote the application of current affairs material in junior high school geography teaching.
