Malaysia is a multiracial and multilingual country. The Chinese education system in Malaysia is well-established,but it is focused mostly on first language learning, while the teaching of Chinese as the second language is still in the process of development.Malaysia adopts a vernacular education systm, hence Primary education in Malaysia is divided into national primary schools, national Chinese primary schools, national Tamil primary schools and international private schools. In recent years, many non-Chinese Malaysian primary school students are more willing to learn the Chinese language, but the lack of qualified teachers,Chinese and non-Chinese students(Malay,Indian and Aboriginal)with different Chinese level and different cultural background have been arranged into the same Chinese-language classes in elementary schools. This mixed racial class phenomenon not only increases the difficulty of teaching, but also negatively affects the quality and effectiveness of the curriculum. As factors such as schools, teaching materials and teachers cannot be changed in a short period of time, the only effective way how to solve these problems is through extensive research followed by the reform of teaching methods. In view of this, the author standing on the basis of the previous investigation combines the differentiated teaching strategy to aimed Malaysian multi-ethnic education of a Chinese-language class. The teaching scheme is relevant, feasible and has validity in teaching content including classification, structure of small group, time allocation, teaching activity and so on.It is hoped that implementation of this teaching method can help local Chinese teachers and raise the standard of Chinese among primary school students in Malaysia.Additionally, more Malaysian primary school students will be able to continue to learn Chinese in their secondary and tertiary education.
