The 21 century is a century with talents and technology as the core elements of social development.The progress of science and technology depends on high-quality talents whose cultivation needs to be based on the development of education.The quality of education must rely on the quality and level of teachers.The improvement of teachers' quality and level must follow the path of teacher professional development.At present,teacher professional development is a development trend of worldwide concern.The foundation of the schools' sustainable development and characteristic development is teacher professional development.In China,on the basis of the past curriculum reforms,a new round of curriculum reform breaks through the limitations of previous reforms and makes integrate changes in the aspects of curriculum ideas,function,structure,content,implementation,evaluation,management,etc.This reform is of revolutionary significance and puts forward higher and newer requirements for teacher professional development.In the actual situation,teacher professional development in China is faced with the difficulties of insufficient motivation,unclear goals,improper methods and ineffective management.In order to develop education and improve school quality,we should,on the one hand,change the traditional backward mode of organization and management and irrational rules and regulations.On the other hand,we should actively explore feasible strategies to promote teacher professional development and practical measures to reflect the spirit of the new curriculum.It is the function of a school to promote teachers' development and a school should become the school of teacher professional development.Based on the theoretical analysis of teacher professional development and through the analysis of the actual situation of teacher professional development,this research hopes to study the problems of teacher professional development from the perspective of school management system and mechanism.Furthermore,from the perspective of administrators and under the target of promoting the professional development of secondary school teachers,a series of management thoughts and strategies are put forward to promote teacher professional development by adjusting,improving and perfecting school management.This research is divided into the following five parts:The first part is the introduction.It mainly states the origin,thoughts and methods,feasibility,significance,literature review,definitions of core concepts and theoretical basis of the research.The second part is survey design and process.Survey design mainly includes the design of “questionnaire on teacher professional development” and interview content.Some concepts related to questionnaire design are defined,such as teacher profession,teacher specialization,teacher professional development,school management,secondary school teacher,etc.The structure and design of two questionnaire versions(teacher version and manager version)are introduced in detail.Empirical research is adopted in research process.It includes a survey of the current situation of secondary school teacher professional development and a survey of the relevant factors of the influence that school management has on secondary school teacher professional development.Two questionnaire versions are designed respectively for secondary school teachers and school administrators.On the basis of relevant research at home and abroad and according to “Professional Standards for Secondary School Teachers(trial implementation)” and relevant theoretical research,the author,with more than thirty years' practical experience in education,designs two versions of “questionnaire on teacher professional development”(teacher version and administrator version)in combination with the practical situation of C city and the characteristics of secondary school teacher in this city.On the basis of questionnaire statistical analysis,seven secondary school teachers and four school administrators are interviewed one-onone and in a whole group by using the self-designed interview outline.The third part is the survey results and its analysis.Through statistical summary of the survey data,this part analyzes the current situation of secondary school teacher professional development and the influence of school management on secondary school teacher professional development.It analyzes the survey results and come to preliminary suggestions.The fourth part is the cause analysis of survey results.Through the survey of teacher professional development status and environment,this part analyzes the problems existing in secondary school teacher professional development and especially the factors affecting the professional development of secondary school teachers in school management.On the basis of statistical analysis of a large number of data and in-depth interviews,the reasons behind the phenomenon are analyzed to provide a foundation for problem solving.The fifth part is strategies and measures.Regarding how to improve secondary school teacher professional development,from the perspective of school management,it puts forward a series of strategies in driving,improving and guaranteeing these three levels.Based on the survey results and the cause analysis,some suggestions are given on how school management promote secondary school teacher professional development.
