With the emphasis on innovative talents and the continuous expansion of the scale of doctoral education in China,improving the scientific research and innovation ability of doctoral students had become the core of doctoral education.Nonstop cultivating model for doctoral students is a common mode of doctoral training in the world.The nonstop cultivating model for doctoral students is increasingly becoming an important part of the doctoral cultivating model in China.So,what is the scientific research and innovation ability of doctoral students under the through cultivating mode?What are the problems in the cultivation process?The answers to these questions can test the implementation of the nonstop cultivation mode,thus providing some reference for perfecting the nonstop cultivation mode.In this study,quantitative and qualitative research methods were used to investigate doctoral students in Nanjing University.A total of 1,233 academic doctoral students from Nanjing University were selected,452 of whom were nonstop doctoral students.The key exploration contents include:differences in scientific research and innovation ability between nonstop doctoral students and the others;differences in scientific research and innovation ability between the students of undergraduate direct study and the students of master-doctor continuous study;doctoral students' prior learning experience;academic experience;and influence mechanism of nonstop doctoral students' scientific research and innovation ability.By analyzing the data with SPSS software and draws the following four conclusions:1.The research innovation ability of the nonstop doctoral students is higher than the others,and with the increase of grade,the gap of the two is increasing.2.The scientific research and innovation ability of the students in master-doctor continuous studies is higher than that the students in direct doctor studies.The research and innovation ability of the students in master-doctor continuous studies shows strong advantages,while the research and innovation ability of the students in direct doctor studies is equivalent to that of segmented doctoral students,which is significantly weaker than that of nonstop doctoral students.3.Doctoral students' prior learning experience has a significant positive impact on scientific research and innovation ability.The students in direct doctor studies have poor prior learning experience,which is one of the reasons for their poor scientific research and innovation ability.4.In the effect of academic experience on scientific research and innovation ability,dabbling in the forefront of the academy and projects participating have a significant positive impact on scientific research innovation ability;Tutor guidance,interdisciplinary learning and Curriculum teaching have no significant influence on scientific research and innovation ability.Based on the existing research and interview results,and through the discussion and analysis of the research results,this study puts forward the following research enlightenment and suggestions:first,appropriately increase the proportion of of the students in master-doctor continuous studies and carefully choose the students in direct doctor studies;Second,the recruitment and selection of students should attach importance to prior learning experience and select outstanding students with scientific research potential.Third,optimize the mentor guidance system and strengthen the effectiveness of guidance;Fourth,improve the curriculum and give full play to the basic role of curriculum teaching.
