With the rapid development of knowledge economy and information technology since the 21 st century,a new system of competence and literacy shall be built up to needs of the times,so the theory of core literacy comes into being.The core literacy of students' development in our country is put forward to adapt to this new era.The discipline core accomplishment is the core accomplishment manifests in the concrete discipline,is its important constituent,has reflected the educational value of the subject.Students' Chinese core literacy should be cultivated in the practical activity of Chinese language,and students should be guided to participate actively in the practice,so as to improve their abilities of language using,thinking,aesthetic appreciation,as well as to increase their cultural accumulation.Extracurricular reading is a good Chinese practice,through which students can accumulate more cultural knowledge,expand their horizons,and effectively improve language use ability,cultural accumulation,thinking and aesthetic capabilities.It can be seen that there is a close relationship between extracurricular reading and the Chinese core literacy,which is also consistent with the concept of "core literacy-based" put forward by the Chinese Curriculum Criterion for Normal Senior High Schools(2017 edition)while emphasizing the improvement of Chinese literacy.Studying extracurricular reading from the perspective of Chinese core literacy is conducive to improving students' Chinese core literacy.This paper consists of the following four parts.Part one: based on the existing research results,the related meanings and values of extracurricular reading from Chinese core accomplishment.Part two: the author clarifies the characteristics and relationship between Chinese core accomplishment and extracurricular reading.Part three: the author investigated current extracurricular reading activities of high school students and found there are certain problems that need to be resolved.Part four: in view of the problems existing in the extracurricular reading of high school students,the author puts forward the extracurricular reading strategies of high school students from the perspective of Chinese core accomplishment for both teachers and students.
