The concept of STEM education is soaring in the world.Based on the characteristics of practical operation and interdisciplinary integration of physics teaching,it is suitable to introduce the concept of STEM education into physics teaching.The physics concept is the core of physics learning,and mechanics concept is an important part of physics concept in senior high school.Although students' performance in learning mechanics concept is ideal,the understanding of the essence of mechanics is not profound.Besides,there are still many misunderstandings about the mechanics concept.Therefore,based on the concept of STEM education,teachers should integrate the knowledge of various subjects to enable students to understand physics concept essentially through direct experience,and to be able to use mechanics concept to solve problems.This paper has carried out exploratory research on the following aspects: how does the concept of STEM education guide the process of the teaching design of the mechanics concept course,how to combine the method of the previous teaching design to carry out new teaching design,how to select the content of the mechanics concept course,how to formulate the teaching objectives,how to design the implementation process and how to evaluate.This study selects the mechanics concept as the research topic,and the main research contents are as follows:The first part is to sort out related literature.Through reviewing a large number of literatures related to STEM education and mechanics concepts,we can understand the existing research results,complete the literature review at home and abroad,define and summarize the core concepts,such as STEM education and mechanics concepts.Besides,to analyze and summarize the theoretical basis of this teaching design(such as constructivist learning theory,etc.).And then,we can seek for research ideas,and analyze the curriculum standards of high school physics to study the integration mode of mechanics concept teaching and the concept of STEM education.The second part is to understand the freshmen's mastery degree of mechanics concept.Through the FCI test for the students and interviews with front-line teachers,we can grasp the students' learning situation of mechanics concepts.The third part is to sort out the students' misconceptions.Through the interview content of the students and the analysis of FCI test questions,the common misconceptions of the students are found.For example,in the aspects of free fall movement,interaction force,friction,etc.,students have more misunderstandings in the learning process.The fourth part is to construct the content framework model of mechanics concept course,which is based on analyzing high school physics curriculum standards and referring to the previous frame design pattern of mechanics concept teaching.The fifth part is to carry out teaching design based on STEM education.Based on the analysis of the latest physics curriculum standards and the characteristics of previous research,the teaching design of mechanical concepts based on the STEM education concept is carried out.The main research contents include: analysis of learning situation,setting of teaching objectives,preparation of materials and tools,arrangement of teaching contents,design of teaching process and design of teaching evaluation.The sixth part is to implement teaching design and conduct classroom observation.In the experimental group,the teaching based on the STEM education concept was carried out,and the traditional teaching was adopted in the control group.Once again,the FCI test was conducted on the high school students,the result indicates that the level of the experimental class and the control class were significantly improved,but the correct rate of the experimental group was generally higher than that of the control group.Moreover,it was found that students' enthusiasm to learn physics in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group.In summary,this study starts from the textbooks,curriculum standards and students' actual conditions,to understand students' understanding of the concept of mechanics,sort out the students' misconceptions about the mechanics,and then we propose the strategies to improve teaching,which is based on the concept of STEM education.On this basis,we conduct teaching practice and classroom observation.I hope to provide assistance in the teaching of mechanics concepts,and also provide research ideas for physics teaching on other topics.
