Alfred North Whitehead(1861-1947)is a famous English philosopher,mathematician,logician and educational theorist.He is one of the most famous philosophers of the 20 th century and the founder of the philosophy of process(also known as organic philosophy).His extensive research in a wide range of fields gave him deep and unique insights into education.Curriculum reform is the core issue in today's education reform in China,and curriculum provision principles is an important part of curriculum reform.The problem of whether curriculum should adhere to discipline standard or key competence standard is often confused people.Whitehead's principles of concentration curriculum provide us another way of thinking the problem.The research on curriculum provision principles can contribute wisdom to curriculum reform.Whitehead puts forward the requirement of concentration in curriculum,which may be called the principle of concentration in curriculum provision.The principle of concentration curriculum provision is unique and distinctive,which is completely different from the principle of balanced curriculum provision in the previous curriculum documents and deserves attention.This paper aims to sort out and summarize the principles of whitehead's concentration curriculum provision so as to provide some references for China's secondary and primary education and university education.The thesis is divided into four parts:The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly expounds the origin of the research,concept definition,research purpose and significance,research method as well as literacy review of whitehead's educational thought and the principle of curriculum provision in China.The second chapter deals with the theoretical foundation of whitehead's curriculum provision principle.Whitehead's philosophy of process is the main philosophical background of his educational thoughts.If we set aside his philosophy of process,it is difficult to appreciate his educational thoughts.This chapter discusses the theories that most closely related to whitehead's principle of concentration curriculum provision.The third chapter summarizes whitehead's concentration principle curriculum andanalyzes its connotation.The connotation of the principle of concentration in curriculum provision includes: First,the curriculum should be set according to the rhythm of life and the rhythm of students' intellectual development.Second,different cycles of intellectual development have their own characteristics,and the curriculum should reflect the focus of each cycle.Thirdly,when a certain course is in the precise stage of intellectual development,we should focus on the study of the course content.The fourth chapter is about its educational meaning.It mainly includes three aspects:Firstly,primary education should focus on stimulating students' romantic spirit.Secondly,secondary education cannot ignore the systematicness of subject knowledge.Thirdly,university education should pay attention to cultivating the spirit of comprehensive application.
