The practice ability of college students mainly includes basic practice ability,comprehensive practice ability and practice innovation ability.The practice innovation ability as the highest level of requirements,mainly refers to the innovation ability that college students applied the accumulated rich knowledge with continuous exploration and creative thinking to solve practical problems.At present,major colleges and universities are actively seeking to find an effective way to improve the students' innovation ability,such as strengthening the cooperation with enterprises to let students participate in the enterprise practice,and meanwhile,holding a variety of community activities to encourage students to study,practice,and innovation service.The author who stay in the university is an application-oriented university centered on students' innovative exploration which started relatively early,think that discipline competition advocated by the Ministry of education is of great promotion to students' practice innovation ability,and meanwhile,the results found that students' practice innovation ability has been effectively improved by participating in discipline competitions.On the basis of investigation of the relationship between discipline competition and practice innovation ability,a survey with own-designed questionnaire and interview outline was conducted by the students who has participated in the competition.Firstly,the questionnaire was named ‘Factors influencing on the undergraduates' development of practice innovation ability',and has recived a relatively high reliability and validity.Secondly,the questionnaire survey was based on more than 280 students who participated in the discipline competition from S college of Zhejiang X University.Thirdly,the sampled students including prize-winner and prize-loser were interviewed individually,together with four professional teachers who supervised the students who has participated in the discipline competition.The conclusions were drawn as following:The students' innovative thinking has been inspired by the guidance from professional teachers through the whole process of discipline competition,including topic selecting,program design,experiment completion,data uploading and dissertation.They enabled us not only to digest professional knowledge learned at ordinary times so as to succeed in designing innovative experiments,but also to verify the data we wanted through scientific and rigorous experiments,which greatly improved our practical ability in laboratory.It enabled the students not only learn professional knowledge and design innovative experiments,but also greatly improve the students' practice innovation ability through the rigorous scientific experiments.It can be concluded that the discipline competition factors affecting students' ability of practice and innovation proposed in this study can promote the academic competition development of colleges and universities.Moreover,the integration and the design of discipline competition which suitable for students' practice and innovation ability is what we should do next.
