In October 2015,the State Council promulgated the "Overall Plan for Coordinating the Advancement of World-Class Universities and World-Class Discipline Construction".It is required to speed up the construction of a number of world-class universities and first-class disciplines,and clearly put forward the task requirements for the construction of“double world-class” universities.As the main force of higher education in China,local colleges and universities should actively participate in the construction of "double first-class",fight the tide and take the initiative.This is an inevitable choice for local colleges and universities in the process of creating a“double world-class”process,and an important mission of local colleges in China's higher education.However,the gap compared with the ministries and universities is determined that it is impossible for local universities to compete with key universities in the “ double first-class ”construction.Therefore,local colleges and universities must have a targeted construction of "double world-class".The discipline should be regarded as a breakthrough,with special disciplines and superiority as the guide,and give full play to the important role of local colleges in the construction of "double world-class".In addition,through literature search,it is known that there are many studies on the construction of disciplines in local universities,and there is a lack of research on the construction of disciplines in a certain region,especially in western universities.Therefore,exploring the development path of disciplines and majors in western local colleges and universities under the background of "double world-class" construction has become an important topic for urgent research.This paper selects five local colleges and universities in Sichuan Province as the research object,and analyzes the status quo of the discipline construction in five universities by using three methods: literature analysis,data analysis and interview.The study finds that the discipline construction of the five universities is contrary to the requirements of “double world-class”.There are still some problems in the construction of disciplines.The specifics can be summarized as follows: 1.Not compatible with local economic development;2.Lack of scientific and rational planning;3.Lack of high-end talent;4.Low matching with industrial structure talent demand;5.Funding is tight.Undoubtedly,a series of problems in the construction of disciplines and majors have seriously hindered the participation of five universities in the construction of “double world-class”.In order to be more active in the "double first-class" construction,local colleges and universities must develop a path for the development of disciplines in line with their own characteristics.Therefore,under the guidance of the "double world-class" policy,combined with the principles and elements of discipline construction,the corresponding solutions are proposed for the above problems.The specific content can be summarized as follows: 1.Strengthen the discipline and professional adaptability according to the needs of regional economic development;2.Strengthen discipline and professional construction planning;3.Introduce and cultivate first-class teachers;4.Improve discipline professional structure;5.Increase investment and expand financing channels.
