Revitalization Policy Of Vocational Education To Improve Human Resources In Indonesia

Many developed and developing countries have started to develop a system of vocational education.Different with schools in general,vocational education gives students the opportunity to pursue one field in accordance with their interests.Vocational education or VET is education that focuses the students more on practical lesson compared with the theoretical lesson.Many of the benefits that can be obtained from the vocational education one of them can be an alternative for some people who want to work directly after graduation.In Indonesia,vocational education quite attractive,but recently vocational school has the highest unemployed number among the other level graduates.This is caused by the inequality between the supply and demand of the labor market and the qualification of graduates is quite low.The low qualified of the student is caused by several factors it starts from the lack of curriculum system,infrastructure and facilities,and qualification of teacher as well.So at 2016,the government responsive to respond to the problems of link and match that often occurs in vocational education.Through revitalization policy the government planned a road map and strategy in resolving this i ssue.But after followed up,apparently the policy of the revitalization of vocational education is the implementation is still not yet thorough.Therefore,the study aims to see the effort of government to solve the issue.Besides,the research also aims to seek the root of the problem to develop vocational education in Indonesia which quite lagging if compared to other countries.The research conducts a survey through questionnaire and interview.According to the findings,there are several why Indonesia still lagging in vocational education sector.The system of curriculum is need to be reform,lack of support from government,inequality training program for teacher and there is no bridge party to connect the schools and business world.To utilize the human resources especially from vocational education level,the government should be more focus to reform the system which start from curriculum,teacher recruitment,and encourage stakeholders(business)to cooperate together.Vocational education can be one of the ways for government to enhance the quality of human resources.
