China's mental health education in college boarded in the mid-1980 s.In 2004,the State Council promulgated the paper Opinions on Further Strengthening and Improving the College Students' Ideological and Political Education,which clearly classified the mental health education into the category of ideological and political education.Since then,dealing with college students' mental health issues has become an important part of ideological and political education system.In 2011,the Ministry of Education promulgated the Basic Requirements for the Teaching of Mental Health Education for Students in Ordinary Colleges and Universities,which stipulated that compulsory education should be included in the education system.However,the current mental health education for college students put more focus on the counseling and activities,even though in some colleges and universities there're mental health courses,which are mostly in the form of public elective courses.In general,college students' mental health education is in a passive state and only is spread in a small range.In this paper,based on the theory of positive psychology and combined with theories and questionnaires,this paper studies the status quo of classroom education on mental health and how to improve the status quo which can benefit all college students.Starting from the theory of psychological health education,positive psychology theory and pedagogy theory,this paper tries to find the joint connections between the three theories and classroom education on mental health.And this paper argues that the emergence of positive psychology makes the popularization of mental health knowledge a necessity and that the classroom education on mental health makes it possible to realize the popularization of mental health knowledge;What's more,the classroom education on mental health is the objective requirement to implement the ideological and political education;subjectivity education calls for expansibility classroom education on mental health.And a comprehensive analysis of both the theoretical basis and realistic basis of carrying out the classroom education on college students' mental health is followed behind.The second step in this paper is to get a better understanding of the development of college students' classroom education on mental health and the main achievements from the accessing to governments' documents and interviews with university teachers.According to the documents and interviews,courses on mental health has been gradually incorporated into the formal teaching program,and the degree of popularity has been greatly improved,and the teaching team of classroom education on mental health has expanded as well.Through the questionnaire,the author makes a judgment on the current situation of college students' classroom education on mental health.Then the paper mainly analyzes the college students' sense of demand for classroom education on mental health and the effective evaluation of college students' classroom education on mental health.It is concluded that students of all grades generally have a strong sense of demand for classroom education on mental health.Classroom education on mental health has also been recognized by most students,but there are still gaps between the curriculum effects and the expected targets.There are three factors that restrict the effectiveness of the curriculum.First,the orientation of mental health education curriculum is not accurate.Second,there are limitations in the methods of classroom education on mental health.Third,the content of classroom education on mental health is not targeted.Based on the “ought to be” analysis and the “make being” judgment,this study puts forward the strategies of improving college students' classroom education on mental health from the following three aspects:concept,content and safeguard.From the concept,this paper suggests to establish a people-oriented educational philosophy and clarify the direction of psychological classroom education based on positive psychological education;and it also needs to be clarified the teaching principles of teacher-directed and students' subjectivity and the requirements of combining theories with practices,and also the popularization of working mechanisms of correction,intervention and progressive mental health education.From the content,it is suggested that we need to strengthen the curriculum constructions of college students' classroom education on mental health.And we need to enrich the curriculum contents of mental health education,to expand the teaching methods of mental health education and standardize the teaching managements of mental health education.From the method,we need to optimize the education teams of college mental health.From the safeguard,we need to optimize the education teams of college mental health,to create a positive mental health environment and establish supporting systems by gathering positive forces.
