The Discourse Mechanism Of Internet Rumors In Public Emergencies

In recent years,as our society is in the period of transformation,social contradictions have become increasingly prominent,and all kinds of public emergencies occur frequently.With the rapid development of the Internet,Internet rumors,as an irrational and destructive power of public opinion,are often accompanied by the generation of public emergencies,which have seriously disrupted social order and especially need to get the attention of the government.Compared with the traditional media era,rumors in the Internet age show many new characteristics in terms of discourse types,expression strategies and communication channels,which range of communication and recognition of audience have also been improved unprecedentedly.Under this background,studying the discourse mechanism of Internet rumors in public emergencies is of great significance to reveal why rumors can spread widely and cause identity,and enhance the government's ability in response to Internet rumors in public emergencies.The study has selected several public emergencies with great effects in recent years,in which the typical Internet rumors discourse as the research object,and use the theory of discourse analysis and coding and decoding.From the three aspects of discourse features,strategies of discourse construction and the mechanism of discourse communication,the study analyzes the formation and spread process of Internet rumors in public emergencies.On the basis of that,it has also raised some suggestions and strategies for the government to refute rumors from the perspective of discourse.The study found that,Internet rumors in public emergencies have rich spread codes,which will use a variety of narrative frameworks,public sentiments and media forms as discourse resources.They are also good at using a variety of encoding strategies,which can construct discourse by discourse stitching,discourse extending and discourse opposing.In the communication and identity process,Internet rumors will follow the adversarial position of decoding strategy,and make the effect of group mobilization by deconstructing the official discourse and arousing the collective memory of people.In view of the discourse characteristics of Internet rumors in public emergencies and the mechanism of communication,this article holds that the government can take targeted response measures in the different stages of the emergence and development of Internet rumors.Before the emerge of rumors,the government can use discourse immunity strategy,by releasing rumors warning information in time.As rumors occur,the government can use the discourse dilution strategy,by publishing real information and set up new hot topics.When rumors have been widespread,the government should firstly analyze the cognitive and psychological framework of people,and then choose the proper angle and expression of discourse.From the perspective of discourse,this article puts forward some strategies to resolve Internet rumors in public emergencies,in order to improving the government's ability of discourse response in crisis events,so that the government can achieve effective results in rumor refuting.
