Since 1945,music education in schools in Taiwan has undergone major changes.The music curriculum standards/outline serves as a programmatic document for school music education and guides the development and reform of school music education.This article attempts to summarize the universality and individualized development of the development of music education in primary and secondary schools in Taiwan by studying the standards and outlines of the music curriculum for primary and secondary schools that have been enacted since 1945 in Taiwan.The history and status quo of Taiwan's school music education are also discussed.Music education scholars lay the foundation for further exchanges and cooperation.This study adopts the literature method,historical research method,text analysis method,and comparative method,and summarizes the development characteristics of Taiwan's school music education in each period through the textual research on the goals of music programs and music teaching programs promulgated in Taiwan over the years.The goal of the primary and secondary school music curriculum in Taiwan-from singleness to richness,from ideological to individual art development,music curriculum content-moves from skill-based to literacy-based,and from branch to art synthesis.Finally,it summarizes and looks forward to the opportunities and problems faced by music education in Taiwan's primary and secondary schools in the 21st century,and provides suggestions on the music curriculum reforms in the future of compulsory education in the mainland.
