Reading questioning strategy is an important part of the reading strategy in the elementary school period.It can be regarded as a method in the students' reading process,which containing developing reading comprehension,self-questioning about the text,and trying to answer them.The elementary school stage plays an important role for students to cultivate a questioning attitude and develop questioning awareness.Hence,students with good reading questioning strategies can be in favor of autonomous reading and improving reading ability.Here,this study focuses on understanding the current teaching status of reading questioning strategies,exploring the differences between different genders,grades,Chinese level and reading ability in terms of reading questioning strategies.It's also analyzed the correlation of reading questioning strategies with questioning attitudes,questioning awareness,and reading ability.In this study,382 students in the fourth and fifth grades of primary school in H city were employed as the research object.With the help of literature analysis,questionnaire survey and interview method,a series results were obtained by different measurement tools,like questioning awareness,questioning attitude,reading question strategy,question awareness scale,and reading question strategy teaching feedback.These results were processed by independent sample t-test,single-factor analysis of variance,correlation,and regression analysis,and the conclusions are as follows:1.Girls perform better than boys in asking questions and reading strategies.2.Compare with the students in fifth grade,reading questioning strategies are more frequently used in fourth grade.3.The factor of questioning attitude could appreciably affect the learning of reading questioning strategies and the development of reading ability.4.Reading questioning strategies can improve questioning awareness and reading ability.Above all,in order to improve the teaching of reading questioning strategies in primary schools,three suggestions from different perspectives are put forward: i)cultivate positive questioning attitude of students,ii)master the learning path of reading questions,iii)focus on the practical reflection of strategy teaching.It worth expected that this study could help Chinese educators in primary school to smoothly carry out reading question strategy teaching,and the students could successfully master reading question strategy and improve reading ability.
