Walking In The Ideal And The Reality

This research mainly focuses on the supervision of MS W' social work practice,by analyzing their expectations for supervisors before the internship and the harsh reality they face,this paper shows the conflict between their expectations and reality,so as to provide a certain reference for the practice supervision and education of current social work,and make academic contribution to the perfection and development of social work practice supervision education.18 social work masters(MSW)were selected as interviewees in this study.From the point of view of the internship subjects,this paper studies and presents their supervision in the internship.Through the use of participatory observation and in-depth interviews,the following research findings were obtained:Professional social work master's degree(MSW)before the internship is full of expectations for a better supervision,but they gradually see the gap between the ideal and the reality in the process of interaction with supervisors,and their expectations has suffered a real blow.They struggle to walk between ideals and reality,not only to face the complex emotions between expectation and disappointment,but also to face the difficult dilemma of professional conflict with supervision.In order to achieve the expectations and goals set before the internship,they break through the limits of the dilemma,carries on the adjustment and transformation of the concept,take strategic action,break through the limitations of the difficulties,and seek support.In fact,the harsh reality not only reflects the idealization of their expectations for supervisors,but also presents the supervision problems of MSW students,These are also the reasons why there is a gap between the expectation of the supervisor and the reality.Therefore,the implications of such a study are as follows:(1)strengthen the strict selection of supervisors;(2)attach importance to communication with supervisors before internship;(3)pay attention to the play of supervision function;(4)distinguish between supervisory work and routine work.
