In the past five years, many provinces have implemented new course-selection regulations, which closely linked course-selection to university majors and expanded the kind of high school students' elective portfolios.Under the new system, the essence of course-selection is to make career decisions.Only by doing a good career planning can one have an advantage in the course-selection.However,many studies and practices have shown that high school students rarely incorporate their own career plans when selecting subjects. This shows that career decision deferral is occurred, that is,no career decision is made when selecting subjects, and they will choose later.Based on a review of the literature, this article selects decision-making competence and attribute character as independent variables,to explore their impact on the career decision deferral of high-school students,as well as its impact mechanism and the mediating role of compensatory strategy. This article has three studies:Study 1 revised the youth version of Decision-making Competence Scale(CY-DMC).After obtaining the consent and authorization of the original author, the youth version of Decision-making Competence Scale(Jacobson,2012)was translated and revised.Study 2 adopted the result-oriented research method to explore the impact of decision-making competence and attribute character on the career decision deferral of high-school students by questionnaires.Study 3 is on the basis of the results of Study 2,selected decision-making competence and attribute weight as independent variables, adopted process-oriented research method and used Information Dispaly Board to record the process of decision-making,as well as its impact mechanism and the mediating role of compensatory strategy. In summary, the conclusions are as follows:(1)The revised scale has good reliability and validity, and can be used to measure decision-making competence in Study 2 and Study 3.(2)There is an interaction between decision-making competence and attribute weight on career decision deferral of high school students. With attribute weight, the lower the decision-making competence, the more likely it is that career decision deferral will occur.(3)The compensation index mediate the effect of decision-making competence on career decision deferral. The higher the individual's decision-making competence is,the more likely they tend to use compensatory strategy, and the lower their career decision deferral will be.
