Thinking training is an effective practical way to cultivate talents,and the education based on thinking method can cultivate students' creativity.The cultivation of scientific thinking method is the unified purpose of all education and the common task of school education.Geography contains rich scientific thinking methods.In the high school geography teaching,we should pay attention to the cultivation of students' scientific thinking ability,use the scientific thinking method to understand the geographical phenomenon,think,analyze the geographical problems and explain the geographical process,so that in the process of learning and mastering the geographical knowledge,we can effectively improve the students' geographical scientific thinking ability,cultivate the students' geography core accomplishment,and train the innovative talents for the new socialist era.Taking Shuangliu Tanghu Middle School in Sichuan Province as an example,the paper makes a study of the scientific thinking method in the geography teaching of senior high school by using the questionnaire and the personal interview.The following conclusions were drawn from the study:(1)The students' mastery of scientific thinking methods as a whole is not high.Most of the students' four scientific thinking methods,such as "control variable method","comparative analysis method","push pull analysis method" and "system analysis method",all stay at the level of basic analysis but incomplete analysis,especially nearly 80% of the students can not master the "push force analysis method" and "system analysis method".(2)There are group differences in students' mastery of scientific thinking methods.From the level of academic level,from sophomore to junior high school,students' knowledge mastery and thinking ability are improved,and at the class level,different thinking level students are quitedifferent.(3)Students use scientific thinking methods to analyze problems with individual differences.Because of the difference of learning habits,learning ability and thinking level,different students have different observation angles and thinking ways when they think problems,which leads to the difference of learning results and thinking results.(4)The cultivation of scientific thinking methods by teachers as a whole has not formed the overall cognition and systematic strategy.Teachers have the consciousness of cultivating students' scientific thinking methods,but generally there is no complete training system and training strategy in the teaching process.(5)In senior high school geography teaching,the following basic principles should be followed in order to cultivate students' scientific thinking methods: taking curriculum standards as the teaching basis and cultivating students' scientific thinking ability;taking teaching material knowledge and college entrance examination as the key point of cultivation;taking learning situation analysis as the teaching basis,which accords with the characteristics of students' psychological development;and unifying the process of imparting knowledge and mastering scientific thinking methods.Finally,this paper puts forward the training countermeasures from the teaching level and the study level and some concrete suggestions on how to train students' four scientific thinking methods of "control variable method","comparative analysis method","push pull analysis method" and "system analysis method" in senior high school geography teaching.
