Sports participation motivation drives people to participate in sports activities and urges sports behavior to maintain at a certain intensity.Higher levels of motivation led participants to perform harder in the sport.College students are basically in the last period of their life to receive physical education.In this critical period,maintaining the appropriate level of sports participation motivation is of great significance to improve the personal sports skill level and physical quality,and to cultivate the consciousness of lifelong sports.Public physical education is a common form of college physical education,and public swimming class is an important part of public physical education.Zhejiang Normal University is a key normal university in Zhejiang province.Based on the personal experience of swimming teaching and the observation of students' classroom activities,the author finds that in the teaching of public swimming class,students will show different levels of sports participation motivation.In order to understand the specific situation of college students' motivation to participate in swimming during this period and grasp the rules,this study,aiming at the current situation of public swimming classes in Zhejiang Normal University,uses the table method of physical activity motivation measurement(MPAM-R)to draw the following conclusions through before and after comparison:(I)The ranking sequence of the five motives of college students' participation in public sports swimming class before class is as follows: fun motive,ability motive,health motive,appearance motive and social motive.The ranking of the five motives for college students to participate in the public sports swimming class after class is in the following order: ability motive,fun motive,health motive,appearance motive and social motive.Therefore,it can be seen that public swimming class has an impact on students' participation motivation,which is reflected in that college students attach more importance to personal ability motivation.(?)From the difference changes of five motives before and after sports participation,the difference changes of ability motive,health motive and social motive are larger,but the difference changes of fun motive and appearance motive are smaller.This partly reflects the social and health effects of swimming as a skills-led sport.The difference between competence motive and social motive is mainly due to the obvious enhancement of competence motive and social motive after class compared with before class.To some extent,this shows that the students have improved their swimming skills through the study of swimming classes,and have made like-minded friends and gained friendship.The difference of health motive is mainly due to the obvious weakening of health motivation after class,which may be because the weekly swimming class does not have a positive impact on students' health.(?)In terms of gender,male students have stronger motivation intensity in all five aspects than female students.College students of different genders have different motivation to participate in a particular sport.To some extent,it reflects that male students are more motivated to participate in swimming lessons than female students both before and after class.Compared with before class,the health motive of male and female students after class changed significantly.(?)In terms of grade,on average,compared with sophomore,freshmen have stronger motivation to participate in sports.This may be because first-year students are more curious about the new course and have a stronger motivation to participate.Compared with before class,the ability and motivation of freshmen and sophomores after class have changed slightly.This is because the ability motive of the sophomore students increases more obviously after class,which may be because the sophomore students' swimming skills improve more obviously.(?)In terms of origin,on average,the motivation of urban students to participate in sports is higher than that of rural students.To a certain extent,it reflects the gap between urban and rural areas in China,and the difference in sports participation motivation caused by the difference in economic conditions is inevitable.By contrast,only the ability motive and the fun motive changed slightly.This is due to the increase of the fun motive and ability motive of the rural students after class,which may be because the rural students are more interested in swimming,a novel sport.(?)At different levels of sports,students with basic swimming skills have higher intensity in all motives than students without basic swimming skills.To some extent,swimming skill level has a great influence on sports participation motivation,which reflects that students with high swimming skill level have a stronger motivation to participate in swimming class.By contrast,there are no significant changes in the five motive factors...
