Nowadays,human resource management is becoming one of the key tasks of enterprises and institutions.The archival work is a basic part for universities,and the competence of the archivists is an important determinant of whether they can complete the archival work.As a novel human resource management mode,the competency model has attracted much attention,and it brings many advantages,which can inspire employees' work enthusiasm and improve the competition level of archives.Based on the investigations of the current situation of college archives,this article collects the competence of college archivists from three different ways including literature analysis,behavioral incident interviews,website surveys and job analysis.By summarizing,this article finally obtains 24 competency characteristics Based on these 24 competence elements,a questionnaire was designed to verify the relationship between them.By reliability analysis and factor analysis,the 24 competence elements are divided into 4 categories,including the application of knowledge and skills,interpersonal skills,work attitudes and personality traits.Both application of knowledge and skills and interpersonal skills are the water part of the iceberg model,which is easy to observe and distinguish;the work attitude and personality traits are the underwater part of the iceberg model,which is not easy to discover.According to the competency model,this article puts forward some suggestions for university archives of improving the human resource management,including personnel selection,assessment and training.Then it further explains that the application of the competency model in colleges and universities requires the support of the management system,funds and talents.This research comes up with a new idea for the human resource management of college archives,and also provides a developing reference for the archivists of universities.
