After years of unremitting efforts,China's rural poverty alleviation has made great progress and made outstanding contributions to global poverty reduction. When the rapid decline happened in the number of poor people and the substantial decline in poverty, the characteristics and nature of poverty have also undergone major changes.Such as the poverty changed from the whole and regional poverty to the small area and individual poverty, the spatial distribution of the poor population presents the large scattered small centralized pattern, the cost of poverty alleviation and the difficulty of poverty alleviation has increased, the marginal revenue of poverty alleviation has declined. The absolute poverty continues to decline, the relative poverty has become the main form of rural poverty, with the economic growth of the poverty reduction effect is gradually weakened, the gap between the rich and the poor in rural areas has widened, the impact of income disparity on poverty is increasing. The overall income level of rural areas continues to improve, living poverty is basically solved, material poverty has been greatly alleviated, but spiritual poverty began to emerge, the lack of internal motivation for the development of the poor population. The ability of education, health care, health, social security is outstanding, the labor shortages and aging caused poverty become a new problem of poverty. In general, the causes of poverty have become diversified and complicated, multidimensional poverty has become the main manifestation of poverty in rural areas, the changes of poverty characteristics and nature have challenged the traditional poverty alleviation model with single income index.Based on the theory of multidimensional poverty, this paper aims at the accurate identification of poverty population and causes of poverty.Based on the survey data of 1749 households of 14 poor villages in Gansu Province, the multidimensional poverty of the sample farmers is measured and decomposed by AF multidimensional poverty measure, and probit regression analysis is carried out to influence the factors of multidimensional poverty,so as to provide a useful reference for China's anti-poverty policy from the multi-dimensional perspective. The results show that the poverty rate of transportation, education and health is more serious than income of poverty of sample farmers. The rate of multidimensional poverty is 62.30%,the multidimensional poverty index is 0.320,which is higher than the national level(38.9%,0.216).There were significant differences in the impact of different dimensions on the multidimensional poverty of farmers, among which the impact rate of poverty, such as traffic conditions, educational level, consumption level and durable consumer goods was higher than the income dimension, and the dimensions affect each other.Different regions affected by the natural geographical environment, economic base and other impact have different impact on the multidimensional poverty of farmers,so in the allocation of poverty alleviation resources must consider the actual situation in the region. The empirical results of the causes of multidimensional poverty show that the household characteristics, family endowments and village environment have significant influence on the multidimensional poverty of farmers, especially the traffic conditions, geographical environment, family education level and maintenance coefficient.
