The Relationship Between Inferiority Complex And Social Anxiety Of Urban Migrant Children: The Mediating Effect Of Coping Flexibility And A Case Study Of The Box Court

Migrant children,who have transferred from rural to urban,facing with the changes in lifestyle,and learning environment and other aspects.In the processing of adapting to the new environment,migrant children are prone to produce mental health problems such as inferiority,social anxiety and so on.To explore the effect of sandplay therapy on relieving social anxiety of the urban migran children and its relation path,following two studies were designed.In Study 1,the feelings of inadequacy scale,the coping style scale and social anxiety scale for children were measured on 903 children(including 453 migrant children,450 non-migrant children)of Grade 4 to Grade 6 of the three primary schools in some county of Zhangzhou,Fujian Province.The results showed:(1)the level of inferiority and social anxiety of migrant children are significantly higher than those of non-migrant children,and the flexibility of coping styles of migrant children is significantly lower than those of non-migrant children;(2)the inferiority is significantly positively correlated with social anxiety,and coping style flexibility has significantly negative correlation with inferiority and social anxiety,as well as inferiority has significant positive predictive effect on the social anxiety,and coping style flexibility is intervening variable of inferiority affecting social anxiety.In Study 2,on the basis of variable relation path of research one,2 migrant children with relatively high level of social anxiety were selected to carry out coaching activities of sandplay therapy.Through 10 or 12 times tutorial activities of sandplay therapy,they were helped to acquire various coping styles to adapt to the new environment and to form flexible coping styles,thus reduce the effect of inferiority on social anxiety,so as to alleviate social anxiety.The intermediate effect of sandplay therapy suggests that the coping style flexibility is intervening variable of social anxiety in migrant children with inferiority.In sum,coping style flexibility is intervening variable of inferiority affecting social anxiety,sandplay therapy can effectively help migrant children to improver coping style flexibility,thereby reduce social anxiety.
