A Report On The Practice Of Chinese-English Translation Of The Cultural Book "Honesty And Contribution-Cultural Protection And Development Of Minorities With Small Population" (Chapter 2)

Hezhe ethnic group,with strong cultural characteristics,is one of the most distinctive groups in Heilongjiang Province,China.They only have spoken language but no written language.The selected text is Protection and Development of Hezhe Ethnic Group Culture,which is the second chapter of Have Ample Virtue and Carry All Things—Protection and Development of the Cultures of Ethnic Groups with Smaller Populations,edited by Professor Zhang Haiyang from the MINZU University of China.During the translation,the translator is faithful to the original text and pays attention to the purpose of translation,and carries out the translation practice activities in a systematic manner.In the practice report,the translator analyzes the translation of culture-loaded words,Chinese four-character phrases and Chinese clauses in cultural texts based on Chinese-English translation.Besides,following the translation strategy of combining domestication and foreignization,the translator summarizes the translation methods used in the process of translation,such as phonological method,interpretation method and sentence combination translation method.The translator presents corresponding solutions for the difficulties mentioned above,and summarizes the experience and lessons,in order to provide reference when translating similar texts into English in the future.
