Since the beginning of the 21 st century,self-education has been highly valued by the educational circles because it achieves the purpose of education through selfmotivation of educatees.Some scholars even regard it as "the highest level of teaching." In the field of Ideological and Political Education,many scholars raised self-education to such high levels as "purpose," "destination," "basic category" and "key link," which shows the high status of self-education in Ideological and Political Education.However,since self-education is based on the self-demand,self-supervision,and selfmanagement of educatees,it is difficult for themselves and the educators to make a judgment on whether the educational task and goal have been achieved.Therfore,it is important to research evaluating the Ideological and Political Self-education.However,although some scholars have done some research on the evaluation of Ideological and Political Education,little of them focused on the evaluation of Ideological and Political Self-education.The absence of such a study may make it harder to enhance the effectiveness of Ideological and Political Education through strengthening selfeducation.The aim of this article is to discuss the relevant problems and their internal logical relations of the evaluation of Ideological and Political Self-education from seven aspects: "what is evaluation","why should we evaluate","who should evaluate","what to evaluate"," what to evaluate with","how to evaluate" and "how to enhance the effectiveness of Ideological and Political Self-education through evaluation".What's more,the article will also try to find approaches and means to enhance the effectiveness both for self-education and Ideological and Political Education.To discuss the relevant issues of Ideological and Political Self-education evaluation,firstly,we need to grasp the connotation of Ideological and Political Selfeducation evaluation accurately and clarify the importance of Ideological and Political Self-education evaluation.The reason lies in that self-education is the key link that reflects whether Ideological and Political Education is successfully internalized into the minds of educatees and externalized into behaviors,and self-education is also the ultimate goal of Ideological and Political Education.To ensure that the goal and task of Ideological and Political Education can be achieved through self-education,it is necessary to evaluate self-education comprehensively,scientifically and systematically so that it can be adjusted and corrected in time.Secondly,we should make it clear that the subject of Ideological and Political Self-education evaluation includes not only the subject of self-evaluation but also the subject of other people's evaluation.As for the object of Ideological and Political Self-education evaluation,it can be divided from the perspective of process and effect.The object of evaluation includes not only educators and the educated but also the procedural elements such as self-education goal,education content,and the manifestation of educational results.In the evaluation of Ideological and Political Self-education,we should attach great importance to,on one hand,the evaluation of the educator as the main body and the educated as the object;on the other hand,the evaluation of the educated as the main body and the content and performance of self-education as the object.The former is to guarantee the correct direction of Ideological and Political Education,and the latter is the key to maintain the significant role of self-education.Thirdly,the evaluation of Ideological and Political Self-education should follow the basic principles of direction,objectivity,comprehensiveness,and inclusiveness.Thus,we must establish scientific and reasonable standards.For the evaluation of Ideological and Political Self-education,we should include two standards: basic standards and specific standards.The basic standards should depend on whether they conform to the purpose of Ideological and Political Education.Specific standards depend on whether the evaluation of Ideological and Political Self-education conforms to the people-oriented value criteria,the requirement for fostering students' good morality and strong practicality.The evaluation criteria should not only conform to the norms of Ideological and Political Education discipline but also the characteristics of the evaluation objects.The criteria should also be comprehensive,pluralistic,focused,simple,clear,and easy to operate.Then,it is necessary to elaborate on the evaluating path and methods.The path is analyzed from three aspects: the combination of internal evaluation and external evaluation,the combination of top-down evaluation and bottom-up evaluation,and the combination of group evaluation and individual evaluation.It provides a referential path for the evaluation of Ideological and Political Self-education.Then it puts forward the observation evaluation method,evidence evaluation method,examination evaluation method,and network evaluation method as specific practical evaluating methods.Finally,the evaluation of Ideological and Political Self-education is not a single project,but a long-term phased process.For ideological and political educators,they should,periodically or irregularly,evaluate Ideological and Political Self-education so that they could comprehensively and flexibly understand the self-education status of educatees and give specific guidance to enhance the effectiveness of Ideological and Political Education.For educatees,through periodic evaluation of Ideological and Political Self-education,they can not only know the status of their Ideological and political development,but also,through self-assessment,control the requirements of Ideological and Political Education,constantly improve Ideological and Political Selfeducation,enhance ideological and political quality,improve ideological and political level,ultimately achieve the goal of Ideological and Political Education and complete the task of Ideological and Political Education.
