"The Opinions of the Ministry of Education on Deepening Curriculum Reform to Implement the Fundamental Task by Moral Education" pointed out that the formulation of the core competences system should be placed in the leading position of deepening curriculum reform and implementing the fundamental task of moral education.Afterwards,the revision of curriculum standards for various disciplines was further carried out.The curriculum objectives of the ideological and political discipline have shifted from the traditional three-dimensional goals to the integration of the core competence in ideology and politics,putting forward higher requirements for teachers.In the teaching of ideological and political course,the cultivation of the core competence in ideology and politics is not only the choice and change of the teaching contents,but more of the reform in the way of learning and teaching.As the concretization of core competencies in the ideological and political disciplines,the core competences of ideological and political discipline have been developed by students through the learning of ideological and political lessons,which have the essential character and key capability of the characteristics of this discipline,and are the concentrated representation of the discipline's education value.Specifically,it includes four aspects,namely,political identity,scientific spirit,awareness of the rule of law,and public participation.Based on discipline curriculum standards and with core knowledge as the subject,thematic teaching is a teaching mode that selects a clear topic,integrates related teaching contents and resources and carries out a series of cooperative inquiry activities between students and teachers,so as to achieve common development.Promoting the cultivation of core competencies in ideological and political discipline by thematic teaching helps optimize teaching objectives,integrate teaching contents,change teaching methods,and improve students' ability,thereby strengthening the directionality,effectiveness,pertinence,and autonomy of core competencies in ideological and political discipline..Through questionnaires and interviews with teachers,we have found that the cultivation of the core competence in ideology and politics has made some progress,but is also faced with more challenges.The key issue consists in that the actual teaching does not highlight the core competence in ideology and politics.The main manifestations are:first,the teaching contents have been separated from the real life and fail to stimulate students' intrinsic motivation for the development of core competencies;second,the selection of teaching methods is conservative and fail to promote students' independent construction of discipline core competencies;third,the single teaching evaluation system fail to demonstrate the diversity of discipline's core competencies cultivation.In view of the current problems in the cultivation of the core competence in ideology and politics as well as the inherent tension of ideological and political thematic teaching in senior high schools,the following methods can be adopted to implement thematic teaching so as to promote the cultivation of discipline core competencies,including to refine the theme of teaching to closely associate with core competencies;determine teaching objectives to refine core competencies;create situations and issues to focus on core competencies;explore on independent collaboration to concentrate on core competencies;return to the reality of life to develop core competencies;and establish a scientific evaluation system to test core competencies.Finally,through the demonstration of teaching cases,operative guidance will be provided for cultivating the core competence in ideology and politics.
