Since the implementation of the three-tiered curriculum management system,schools have begun to enjoy bigger decision-making power.The development of school-based curriculum provides a platform for both schools and students.While school-based courses of various types and forms are emerging in large numbers,some problems have become more evident.One of the more prominent problems is that it is difficult to ensure curriculum quality and different schools have mixed performance.The reason behind this problem is lack of sound and effective curriculum evaluation system as guidance and standards.Therefore,this paper focuses on curriculum development and aims to improve the quality of school-based curriculum through establishing an evaluation system for the curriculum of an elementary school.This paper,by reviewing and analyzing relevant literature,interprets the content and analyzes the framework of school-based curriculum evaluation,thus providing a theoretical basis for the evaluation system.On this basis and following the principles of establishing school-based curriculum evaluation system,the research in this paper built a school-based curriculum evaluation system through such methods as literature analysis and questionnaire-based survey.Then,the evaluation system was put into practical use through content analysis and case analysis.In the end,the paper is able to raise suggestions for improving school-based curriculum based on the system.This paper consists of five parts.Part ? is introduction.This part introduces the background,significance,purposes,content,and ways of thinking and methods of research.It also reviews and summarizes the domestic and overseas school-based curriculum and the latest development of the researches on evaluation.Part ? is the analysis of the evaluation of school-based curriculum.By answering the question of “what is an evaluation system of school-based curriculum”,this part focuses on interpreting the value choices and functions of the evaluation,and analyzes the basic framework of the evaluation system and the current situation of the evaluation of school-based curriculum.Part ? focuses on establishing an evaluation system of school-based curriculum.This part elaborates on the issue of “how to build an evaluation system of school-based curriculum”.The research in this paper built a framework and indicator system of school-based curriculum by following the principles of indicator system of school-based curriculum evaluation.The indicator system was studied through indicator collection,screening and confirmation.Part ? is the application of the evaluation system.In order to answer the question of “how to apply the evaluation system of school-based curriculum”,an elementary school was selected by the research,and evaluation and analysis of its school-based curriculum were conducted with the evaluation indicator system built in this research.Part ? is summary and forecast.Based on theoretical research and application,this part puts forward suggestions for further improvement of school-based curriculum evaluation.
