In view of the background in which the reform of core subjects has increasingly been deepened,to help students acquire key competence in history learning has become an important direction for history teaching.In addition to teaching basic historical knowledge in class,it's of vital importance for the teachers to help their students gain such key competence as the competence of thinking.Being one of the five kinds of key competence that should be acquired in history learning,a good perception of time and space is certainly a must.An outstanding feature of the subject history is its time-space constraints.What has been constantly stressed in the new subject criterions is that it's the responsibility of history teachers to get their students to know time sequence,to be able to see generally historical events in certain time-space situations,and to form their opinions of historical people and events against the course of historical development.A good historical perception of time and space contributes fundamentally to helping students come out with a system of knowledge in history,analyze historical events properly,think critically in a historical way,and thus have a better understanding of history eventually.The paper,based on a survey of the history teachers and learners in middle schools on the perception of time and space in history learning,aims to state clearly the current problems and find out the reasons for their existence.Then,it moves on to explore efficient strategies and methods used for the cultivation of historical perception of time and space in students,which is based on a study of the previous achievements in this research field and a reflection of years of teaching experience the author has.Eventually,it's the author's hope that this part might be served as kind of reference to history teachers in helping their students,who are intentionally guided with a good historical perception of time and space in history learning,to see history from different perspectives,develop key competence,and explore in the course of history relatively sound judgments of their own.The paper consists of five parts.The first part,serving as an introduction,states clearly the research meaning,current progress and reasons why the author chooses the subject.The second part illustrates,as a whole,some important concepts on the historical perception of time and space and the importance of having it developed in history teaching.It starts with an introduction to the implications and characteristics of the perception of time and space,and then moves on to an argument on the relationship between history teaching in junior middle schools and historical perception of time and space.It also covers a survey of the students and teachers in junior middle schools in Huai'an city on their historical perception of time and space,and of course,the ensuing analysis after that.It points out finally the role historical perception of time and space plays in history teaching and the necessity of reinforcing the use of it.The third part gives the strategies used in history teaching as a solution to the problems analyzed in the previous part.The fourth and fifth parts mainly focus on teaching design with a detailed explanation of the design of teaching aims,situations,learning tools and various experiencing ways.The practical value of this research will be revealed clearly in these two parts ultimately because readers will surely get to know from the paper how to get a good historical perception of time and space,develop key competence and an ability of critical thinking in history teaching.
