Observation is a perceptual activity in which people perceive and describe external things or people purposefully and systematically through sensory organs or with the aid of scientific instruments,thus obtaining direct experience.Experimental observation is an activity process in which the observation community adopts appropriate observation rules and tools to observe and characterize the observation results according to the observation purpose.As an important link in the implementation stage of chemical experiment activities,chemical experiment observation has a unique position in chemical experiments and is also of great significance to the cultivation of scientific literacy of middle school students.However,the data showed that the research on the connotation and elements of experimental observation in the field of chemical education was not deep enough,and the research on the investigation of the present situation of chemical experimental observation of middle school students was not systematic enough,which would inevitably affect the pertinence of the cultivation strategy of experimental observation ability.Therefore,the author further clarified the connotation and characteristics of experimental observation,constructed the elements and structure of experimental observation,analyzed the contents and requirements of chemical experimental observation in junior high school chemistry curriculum standards and textbooks in compulsory education,and on this basis,determined the current situation of junior high school chemistry experimental observation and the index system of influencing factors exploration.Then,through questionnaire survey,behavior observation,interviews and other forms,the author conducted empirical research on the current situation of junior high school chemistry experimental observation.The results showed that:(1)Junior high school students lacked a certain breadth and depth in understanding the purpose of chemical experiment observation;(2)The choice of objects in junior high school students' chemical experiment observation had a strong tendency:(3)Junior high school students had mastered certain observation rules of chemical experiments;(4)Many factors,such as students' observation motivation,observation ability,observation quality,learning style,experiment method and teachers' teaching method,affected the experimental observation process.Based on the analysis of the current situation and influencing factors,the author put forward teaching suggestions to optimize the observation process of junior high school students' chemical experiments:(1)the visualization of observation purposes;(2)the structurization of observation content;(3)the systematization of observation methods.
