| In China,physical modeling ability has been given an important position as never before,and has become an important part of the core literacy of physics.The development of senior high school students’ physical modeling ability assessment tool can lay the foundation for the study of physical modeling ability.The investigation of senior high school students’ modeling ability and model essence can provide reference for physics teaching.The research on the physical modeling ability of high school students is carried out from two aspects: modeling practice ability,model and modeling essence.Based on the modeling ability analysis index and taking the conical pendulum model as the theme,the senior high school students’ physical modeling ability measurement test questions were compiled.The tool is used to test the current situation of senior high school students’ modeling practice ability.The status quo of senior high school students’ understanding of model and modeling knowledge is investigated by using the model and modeling essential knowledge questionnaire compiled by Qiu Meihong et al.Finally,the relationship between senior high school students’ physical modeling ability,model and modeling essence and their relationship with physics learning results are discussed.The main conclusions of the study are:According to the modeling process,the compiled test of senior high school students’ physical modeling ability is divided into six parts,including 11 topics.The test has good reliability and scorer consistency reliability.The model and modeling essence understanding questionnaire also has high reliability and validity.Overall,the average physical modeling ability of senior high school students is relatively low.According to the modeling process,the average modeling ability level in five dimensions shows a general decreasing trend in turn.There is no significant difference in gender between the senior high school students’ physical modeling ability.In each dimension,significant gender difference is only showed in model selection ability,and boys’ model selection ability is significantly higher than that of girls.The total score of senior high school students’ physical modeling ability has no significantly different in groups of achievement in physics.In each dimension,students in different score groups only has significant difference in model application ability,and the model application ability of high group students is significantly higher than that of low group.The senior high school students’ understanding of the nature of model and modeling shows that the cognitive/methodological dimension has the highest average score,and the epistemological dimension is second,and the ontological dimension has the lowest average score.On the whole,there is no significant difference in gender of the understanding of the nature of models and modeling.In terms of each dimension,there are significant differences between the boys and girls in the ontological dimension,and boys are higher than girls.Students in high or low physical score groups have significant differences in the total score or three dimensions of the model.The score of students in the high group are higher than those in the low group.The correlation among physical modeling ability of senior high school students,the understanding of model and modeling essence and achievement in physics is further discussed.The results show that they have significant correlation with each other. |
