As a humanities discipline,history not only plays a decisive role in improving students' quality and cultivating modern citizens,but also plays an extraordinary role in promoting national prosperity and social progress.However,historical events happened in the past,which cannot be reproduced in front of students by means of experimental observation like natural science.On the other hand,the high school history curriculum content is many,the class hour is few,it is difficult to show the history vivid and interesting in the limited class time.The classroom is the main front of teacher teaching,is also the main place for students to learn classroom teaching is the lifeline of teaching quality,how to improve the classroom effect has become the majority of teachers need to focus on thinking about a big problem.With the development of modern information technology and video and audio technology,the use of film and television resources in high school history teaching is more and more common,especially the historical documentary,whose unique authenticity,documentary,academic and ideological characteristics match history and history teaching well.The introduction of historical documentary into history classroom as a course resource is not only the requirement of the development of the times,but also the need of the actual situation of history teaching.Late in 2006,large TV documentary The Rise of the Great Powers was broadcast.As a representative of the outstanding historical documentary,it is well-made,open-plan,beautifully animated and rich in historical materials.It analyzes the nine countries with global influences that have emerged since the 15th century.So it has an important auxiliary role in the teaching of modern world history and widely used in high school history classroom teaching.This paper chooses the historical documentary The Rise of the Great Powers(hereinafter referred to as The Rise of the Great Powers)as a typical example to study the application of film and television resources in high school history teaching.Except the introduction and conclusion,this article mainly include three parts.Chapter one:brief introduction of The Rise of the Great Powers and its historical value.This part simply defines the concept of documentary and historical documentary,briefly introduces the creation background,main content and broadcast evaluation of The Rise of the Great Powers,and discusses the historical value of The Rise of the Great Powers,such as narrating the history,presenting the history artistically,reflecting multiple historical views and containing rich historical materials.Chapter two:the relationship between The Rise of the Great Powers and high school history teaching.This part states the theoretical basis of documentary film applied to high school history teaching,including historical theoretical basis,learning theoretical basis and psychological theoretical basis,It also focuses on the relationship between The Rise of the Great Powers and the history teaching of high school from the aspects of developing curriculum resources,changing teaching methods and presenting core qualities.Chapter three:the practice of The Rise of the Great Powers in high school history teaching.This part lists the specific application of The Rise of the Great Powers in high school history teaching from two aspects,one is each teaching link,the other is the specific teaching design.In the teaching process,specific teaching cases are given from the introduction of new courses,the teaching of new courses to the class summary;the teaching design is the specific application of The Rise of the Great Powers in the fifth lesson of People's Education Edition---Opening up a New Way.Applying history movie resources to classroom teaching is the common requirements of information age and curriculum reform.As a representative of outstanding historical movie resources,The Rise of the Great Powers has aroused high attention and widely discussed since it broadcast.However,there are few studies on the use of the documentary in the history classroom teaching in middle school.I hope this article can provide some reference for the majority of first-line history teachers in the use of historical documentary-assisted teaching,and also provide some guidelines for the author to engage in high school history teaching.
