Research On The Impact Of Biased Technological Progress On Employment In China's Manufacturing Industry

As China has a large labor force,it is necessary to stabilize the employment situation and increase the employment of labor force.These measures will be conducive to China's social-economic development and contribute to a harmonious and stable situation.At present,China's labor overpopulation and huge employment pressure need to be solved.Manufacturing,as the lifeblood of the economy in China,is the biggest industry,which can absorb China's labor employment and play a great role in promoting China's economic growth at the same time.Therefore,In view of the status quo of manufacturing industry development and employment,deal with manufacturing the contradiction and unification between technological progress and employment relations,solve manufacturing jobs at the ends of the contradiction between supply and demand,maintain good manufacturing employment market stability is around the corner.from the perspective of bias technology progress understanding technology employment relations between the contradictory unity of help to better resolve the contradictions.It is an important task for our economy to transform the industrial structure,to promote the upgrading of the employment structure and to steadily expand employment.While the rapid development of the manufacturing industry is driven by high and new technologies,the impact of technological progress on manufacturing employment should be considered in a balanced way.While promoting the rapid development of the manufacturing industry,more jobs should be created to absorb more labor force for employment,so as to ease the huge employment pressure and stabilize the employment situation.Researchers found that technological progress is not neutral,which often presents the characteristics of tendency towards the labor and capital in the process of development.if the characteristics of technological progress are ignored,which is meant to ignoring the differentiated influence on the factors of production such as labor and capital made by technological progress,and can't do deep analysis of the influence of technology on employment mechanism further.First,According to the existing research,according to the relative marginal of output of different elements in the process of technological progress,the types of biased technological progress are divided.According to the technological progress of bias between capital and labor,it can be divided into capital bias and labor bias.According to the preference of technical progress between skilled labor and unskilled labor,it can be divided into technical progress and non-technical progress.On the basis of this classification,the paper will study the influence of different types of biased technological progress on employment respectively.Second,This paper measures the bias of technological progress in Chinese manufacturing provinces.By using a stochastic frontier model based on transcendental logarithm function,this paper measures the technological progress bias index of Chinese manufacturing provinces from 1997 to 2017.Results shows that most of the provinces in 1997-2000 technology progress prefer the skill labor;during the period of 2000-2017,only a minority prefer the skill labor.On average,it is found that during the period of a year bias technological progress index are greater than zero,which shows that China's manufacturing technology progress are biased towards the skill labor.on a national scale,The improvement of technology makes skilled labor replace unskilled labor continuously.Third,empirically the bias influence on China's manufacturing sector employment,technological progress index found sample period,skill bias technology progress with significant negative abnormal impact on employment,biased technological progress index 1% increase,191 job losses in terms of control variables,the added value of manufacturing,capital investment,annual exports has significant effects on employment is positive,wages,foreign direct investment,annual imports has significant effects on employment and negative points area to the east,middle,western region of employment has carried on the inspection,the following conclusions: bias technological progress index to the middle The influence of employment in the western region was significantly negative,and the influence degree was greater in the central region than in the western region,both of which were higher than the national average.The effect on employment in the eastern region is not significant.
