This article will start from Shavelson's multi-dimensional hierarchical model of self-esteem and explore the relationship between physical exercise and physical self-esteem and global self-esteem at the academic stage.By analyzing and discussing the related theories and research status of physical exercise,physical self-esteem,academic self-esteem,and global self-esteem,it is found that there are inconsistencies in the current research on the relationship between these variables.Therefore,this study will focus on verifying the inconsistencies in the academic research on the relationship between physical exercise,physical self-esteem,and global self-esteem,and explore the reasons for the inconsistencies in the current research results.At the same time,it will also examine the mediating effect of physical self-esteem in different academic stages on the relationship between physical exercise and global self-esteem,and the moderating effect of academic self-esteem on the relationship between physical exercise and global self-esteem in different academic stages.This study uses the newly revised physical self-esteem scale by Xu Xiaxin and Yao Jiaxin,Rosenberg's self-esteem scale,Heatherton and Polivy's academic self-esteem scale,and the physical activity rating scale revised by Liang Deqing and others.University students conduct surveys to explore the relationship between physical exercise and physical self-esteem and global self-esteem at the academic stage,as well as the intermediary role of physical self-esteem and the moderating role of academic self-esteem.The main findings are:1.There are gender differences in the physical self-esteem and global self-esteem of students of different academic stages.The global self-esteem of girls in elementary school is significantly higher than that of boys,and the global self-esteem of boys in junior high school,high school and university is significantly higher than that of girls.There is no gender difference in the physical self-esteem of primary school students.The physical self-esteem of boys in junior high school,high school and university is significantly higher than that of girls.2.In the four academic stages of elementary school,junior high school,high school and university,physical exercise and physical self-esteem are significantly positively correlated.There was a significant positive correlation between physical exercise at the elementary and university levels and global self-esteem.The correlation between physical exercise and global self-esteem at the junior and high school levels was not significant.3.Examination of the intermediary effect of body self-esteem.The physical self-esteem of elementary and university students plays a partial intermediary role in the relationship between physical exercise and global self-esteem.The intermediary effect of physical self-esteem in junior and high school stages is not significant.4.Academic self-esteem adjustment effect test,elementary school,junior high school and high school academic self-esteem has a moderating role in the relationship between physical exercise and overall self-esteem;Only university stage academic self-esteem has no moderating role in the relationship between physical exercise and global self-esteem.
