As a project management tool,the project management maturity model can,on the one hand,summarize a set of common management standards for all projects in enterprises,improving management efficiency;on the other hand,the model can also point out paths and methods for enterprises to enhance their project management ability.Besides,by borrowing and learning from the advanced project management maturity model,the companies can meet with world-class project management practice experience and further enhance their market competitiveness.Foreign studies on this program started early and there are already a collection of satisfying and helpful models.However,these models are based on the situation of foreign countries and mostly applicable to large-scale enterprises.It's not suitable for Chinese companies,especially small and medium-sized companies,to apply them directly.This thesis combines the Chinese reality in to consideration,and takes into account the characteristics of small and medium-sized IT companies to establish a simple and applicable project management maturity model for them.By the method of theoretical research and focused on capabilities for agile management,capabilities for human resources management,capabilities for project management control,and capabilities for integration management,a preliminary evaluation index system has been established,which includes 4 fields,12 criterion level indicators,and 53 second-level indicators.The empirical part collected data through questionnaires at first,and then used SPSS for projects analysis and factor analysis.Data analysis has verified four evaluation areas in the index system,and reduced the criteria layer to 11 and the secondary indicators to 34,completing the task of screening and correcting the index system.Based on theoretical and empirical research,a two-dimensioned project management maturity model was established.The first dimension is five-level maturity stages,which follows common practices.The second dimension has adopted the four-area and eleven-criterion index system derived from empirical research.The summary section has summarized this study and has pointed out research insufficiency and the directions of follow-up research.The paper has established a simple and targeted project management maturity model for small and medium-sized IT companies in China.The model can evaluate enterprises' project management capabilities from four perspectives and diagnose where deficiencies locate,indicating directions for improvement.
