A Study On The Intergenerational Transmission Of Poverty

As one of the most acute social problems in the world,poverty has aroused great concern among governments.As the world's largest developing country,China poverty alleviation made great achievements in recent years,rural poverty population from 98.99 million in 2012to reduce to 43.35 million in 2016(new poverty line).But the poverty problem still exists,especially the long-termpoverty caused by intergenerational transmission of poverty,and the majority of poor people are distributed in deep poverty-stricken areas.In this context,China needs to eliminate absolute poverty in 2020 and achieve a comprehensive well-off society.It is supposed to give priorityto blocking the transmission of poverty in the impoverished region and promoting regional stability and sustainable development.As one of the key points and hotspots in the field of poverty research,the intergenerational transmission of poverty has been highly valued by academic circles and has achieved fruitful results.Existing results,however,focus on the income of a single dimension of intergenerational transfer measure and mainly concentrated in the central and western regions,there is little to multidimensional measure intergenerational transmission and concentrated poverty along the southeast coast area reports of empirical research.In this paper,through a large number of literature reading,is located in northeast Ningde ofFujian province as research district.Using the social and economic statistical data,remote sensing image data and the questionnaire survey data as the foundation,through comprehensive evaluation method,cross contingency table and Logistic regression model,to explore spatial distribution of concentrated poverty area,analyze the intergenerational transfer characteristics and its influencing factors.First,build the economy-society-environment/background vulnerability index system of regional poverty,three dimensions of Ningde each township comprehensive poverty measure,in order to identify the poor areas with severe poverty.These regions are in line with the six provincial-level poverty alleviation and development counties.In addition,the six province-level poverty-alleviation and poverty-stricken counties are sampled in the sample area,which reflects the characteristics of inter-generational transmission from three dimensions:income,occupation and education degree.Secondly,based on the livelihood capital analysis framework,constructing intergenerational transfer income and economic,human,society,geography,psychological capital Logistic regression model,and discusses the internal mechanism of intergenerational transmission.On the basis of this,the author puts forward the policy Suggestions to curb the intergenerational transmission of poverty.The results showed that:(1)the comprehensive poverty level of towns in Ningde has obvious spatial differentiation,which is mainlymanifestedas:the comprehensive poverty level of the coastal and inland areas is significantly different;The poor area presents the feature of concentrated serial distribution.(2)The intergenerational transmission features of low-income,low-education and low-end occupations are transmitted in the impoverished region.(3)Economic,human,social,geographical and psychological capital are the important factors that affect rural poverty generation.Dimensions of financial capital,such as bank loan,household wealth status,etc.,has a significant influence on the intergenerational transmission of poverty.Dimensions of human capital in the number of Labour,health,social capital of the social network and social resources,geographical capitalof accessibility of infrastructure and public service in capital availability,and psychological capital of acceptance of the status quo have significant influence on the intergenerational transmission of poverty.This study enriched the intergenerational transmission of empirical case,expand the research perspective of intergenerational transmission mechanism,for the concentrated area provides beneficial reference for precision block intergenerational transmission.
