Research On Family Support For The Urbanization Of The New Generation Of Migrant Workers

In recent years,there has emerged inter-generational changes within the group of migrant workers,the new generation have become the main force in the construction of urbanization.Compared with the older generation of migrant workers,the new generation possess a stronger will for citizenization and hold different demands for citizenization.However,the road to citizenization is still hampered by many obstacles.Their desires in the regards of employment,housing,public service,spirit and culture,emotion,family migration and cost-sharing in the process of citizenization have not been fully met during the process.lt is difficult for the new generation of migrant workers to complete the transformation from peasant identity to citizen identity through their own efforts,which therefore requires support from all walks of life.Family,the most basic unit of social organization,has firstly provided various support for it.From the perspective of family,the paper is based on the study of rural families'support to the citizenization of the new generation of migrant workers in Y Town made by Y Town of Anhui Province.Supported by social support theory,it explores the limitation of family support for the citizenization process and puts forward the idea of establishing a multi-support network.Referring to the existing studies,this paper examines the actual support from rural families in Y Town of Anhui Province.As a result,it points out that the major support from family relies on the aspect of materials,emotions,caring,and support network relations.But there still exists the limitation for it can be limited by the supporting subject,such as the economic ability,the number of children and ideological concepts.It can be influenced by the supporting object as well,such as age,gender,occupational status and cultural level.In addition,family support can hardly accommodate all the desires during the citizenization process.Therefore,this paper proposes to establish the multi-support network by government,community,enterprises,financial institutions,trade union organizations and the new generation of migrant workers so as to accelerate the process well and quickly.
