The issue of “agriculture, rural areas and farmers” is a fundamental problem of the national economy and the people's livelihood.Farmers' income is one of the factors directly affecting the lives of farmers. Therefore, how to increase the income of farmers has become the focus of current attention of the state and the government. The improvement of the level of agricultural modernization has improved the comprehensive agricultural production capacity and provided preconditions for increasing farmers' income. However, the radiation effect of urbanization has enabled the overall development of urban and rural areas, and has opened up a benign situation of “taking the town with the town and promoting agriculture with the workers”.Xinjiang is a western region, and the southern Xinjiang is one of the deepest poverty-stricken areas in the country. In order to lay a solid foundation for the fight against poverty and accelerate the pace of building a well-off society in an all-round way, studying the level of agricultural modernization and urbanization is of great theoretical and practical significance for increasing farmers' income.Taking Xinjiang as an example, this paper establishes several indicators for agricultural modernization and urbanization, and uses factor analysis to measure the level of agricultural modernization and urbanization in Xinjiang from 1992 to 2017.By establishing an error correction model and gray correlation analysis and other methods to analyze the impact of agricultural modernization and urbanization on Xinjiang farmers' income, the software used is SPSS24.0 and Eviews8.0.Through empirical research, the following conclusions are obtained: First, from the analysis of farmers' income, the income from farmers' agricultural operations is the main source of per capita net income of farmers in Xinjiang.Second, for every additional unit of agricultural modernization, the income of farmers has increased by 0.9472 units(adjusted to 0.3618),indicating that the improvement of agricultural modernization level has increased the income of farmers. The result of the error correction indicates that the system will get a correction of 14.72% in the short-term fluctuations. The results of the grey correlation degree show that the most relevant to the income of the first-level indicators is the input level, followed by the level of science and technology, and the least relevant is the people's living standard.Third, for each additional unit of urbanization level, the income of farmers has also increased by 1.1459 units(0.1061 after adjustment),indicating that the level of urbanization also promotes farmers' income. The error correction results indicate that when there is short-term fluctuation between the level of urbanization development and the income of farmers, the system will get a 7.8% correction. The results of gray correlation show that the highest correlation between the first-level indicators and the income of farmers is economic urbanization, followed by population urbanization, and the least correlation is spatial urbanization.Through the research, this paper gives some suggestions on promoting the transfer of surplus agricultural labor force, increasing farmer's non-agricultural income, paying attention to the training of agricultural technicians and improving the level of agricultural machinery, increasing financial expenditure on agriculture, improving the level of education, improving medical and health facilities, and promoting the synchronous and coordinated development of agricultural modernization and urbanization.
