As one of the pillar industries of China's economic development,the manufacturing industry has made a vital contribution to China's economic growth for a long time.As China's GDP growth gradually slows down year by year,economic development has started to enter the stage of “New Normal” and economic structure has also been optimized and updated correspondingly.Under this background,the manufacturing industry has started to adjust its internal industry structure,which aims to transform China's manufacturing industry from the industry structure mainly driven by labor force into an industrial structure mainly driven by intelligent manufacturing.As the economy constantly develops and the level of science and technology improves,people's consumption choices have become increasing diversified and consumption concepts have also undergone changes.Manufacturers have started to face the pressure of increasingly fierce corporate competition and rise in production cost.We should build product differentiation advantages through satisfying consumers' individual needs.In this environment,manufacturing enterprises have started to shift toward service-oriented manufacturing,enhance their differentiated advantages and transform corporate core competitiveness through increasing product service added value.However,how can manufacturers choose the means and paths for service-oriented transformation still requires continuous research and exploration.Based on the perspective of value chain,this thesis introduces relevant theories on value chain,smiling curve,resource base,and corporate life cycle,adopts Porter's five forces model and PEST analysis method,and analyzes the status on the service-oriented transformation of manufacturing companies,transformation motives,transformation environment,and existing problems.Then the thesis proposes five paths on service-oriented transformation of manufacturing companies,including: Increasing technical input at the product side,promoting information-oriented transformation of traditional companies,rolling out individualized and customized services for products,transforming the backward corporate management structure,and providing system integration service proposals.Meanwhile,the thesis takes MeiLing Electrical Appliance as the service-oriented transformation case,comprehensively analyzes the service-oriented transformation means and process,proposes policy recommendations on the transformation of manufacturing companies,and proposes corresponding service-oriented transformation strategies for upstream section,auxiliary section,downstream section,and extended value chain.
