Developing employability skills for Malaspina University-College students

Abstract/Summary:
This study explored and examined the opportunity for the development and acquisition of employability skills (employability skills encompasses those attributes, behaviours and skills that are necessary for individuals to effectively manage their careers and sustain successful employment in the world of work) within a post-secondary environment. Data was gathered from students, employers and alumni. The study took place at Malaspina University-College in Nanaimo, BC. Through interviews and surveys, it was determined that employability skill development is beneficial for students, the educational institution and the employer community.;The literature review and research data revealed that opportunities need to exist for institutions to develop additional strategies and programs, which help students, enhance their employability to increase their competence and capacity.
