In recent years,with the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology,the continuous upgrading of computer algorithms,and the maturity of Neural Machine Translation(NMT)and computer-aided translation(CAT),machine translation(MT)has begun to change our daily work.Under the background of rapid changes in the language service market,the traditional manual translation or single machine translation can no longer meet the requirements of customers.Thus,CAT+ MT+ PE model has come to the market.Taking the translation project as an example,the translator applies CAT+MT model in translating biomedical papers,and post-editing(PE)is used to solve some problems and difficulties made by CAT+MT.The source text is from a monograph Bats and Human Health.The translator has selected Chapter 5 for translation.The book describes bats as the main subject,and systematically elaborates the close relationship between bats and various respiratory infectious diseases.It is of great significance to popularize relevant medical and health knowledge in the current environment.In the report,the importance of CAT,MT and PE in the pre-translation,translation process and the post-translation is expounded to show the problems and difficulties in biomedical translation,at the meantime,the translator summarizes some automatic translation error types and gives the corresponding solutions by referring the two strategies and seven processes put forward by Vinary and Darbelnet.Before translating,the translator collects a large number of existing biomedical texts and their translation,and aligns them on the platform of TMXmall to abstract some professional terms for building a term base(TB).In the process of translating,the translator tries to translate the source text on Yi CAT,a CAT platform,combined with Google translation plugin,where she can upload the TB and create a new TM.Machine translation improves the efficiency so as to reduce the translator’s working volume,TB offers a reference for term translation,and TM ensures the repeat sentences structure can be translated by once manually.In the post-translation,the translator summarizes three automatic translation error types from the lexical level,syntactic level as well as discourse level.The errors in lexical level include terminology errors,improper use of words and improper collocation;Syntactic level include the passive voice of stiff translation,the translation limited by original structure,and the improper literal translation;Errors in discourse level covers discourse incoherence.In this regard,the translator puts forward corresponding solutions such as using vocabulary database,referring to online terminology database and searching online,as well as selecting words in combination with context;changing passive to active,reasonably decomposing sentence structure and adjusting word order;adopting cohesive devices,etc.Through this translation project,the translator fully applies the translation skills,translation techniques and translation project management knowledge she has learned to practice.On the one hand,the translation process exercises her professional competence;on the other hand,some professional problems and difficulties in the translation process also encourage the translator to keep learning and improve her comprehensive quality.By describing the process of biomedical translation under CAT+MT+PE model,the translator clarifies the difficulties and solutions of this model,which effectively improves the translation efficiency and provides reference for similar text translation to a certain extent.
