The supervision of cadre selection is an important means to prevent the misconduct in the selection of cadres from the source,therefore,it plays an important role in the inner-party supervision.In today’s era,strengthening the supervision of cadre selection is an objective requirement for deepening the reform of the cadre and personnel system in the new era and developing socialist democracy with Chinese characteristics for a new era.The reason is that it not only conforms to the essential requirements of strengthening the governance of the Party and officials with strict discipline,but also guarantees the cultivation of highly qualified and specialized Party and government cadres in the new era.This article uses comprehensive research methods such as literature analysis,comparative research,and field investigation.Focusing on the new changes arising from the supervision of cadre selection in the new era such as highlighting political supervision,underlining overall supervision and attaching importance to operability,this paper selected City A as a research case.Having analyzed the supervision of cadre selection at the county and township level and referred to the democratic evaluation and reverse evaluation data of the cadre selection in city A,it is found that in spite of the fact that the cadres and the masses show more satisfaction toward the cadre selection of city A after implementing effective supervision measures and carrying out innovative practical exploration in the new era,there are still problems existing in the supervision of cadre selection such as insufficient awareness of supervision,poor supervision externality,scattered supervision power,inadequate supervision preventability,and lack of accountability for faults in cadre selection.This paper analyzed the underlying reasons for the above-mentioned problems and learned from the innovative practices and experiences of other prefecture-level cities at the same administrative level in the supervision of cadre selection,after which some opinions and suggestions on how to promote the awareness of supervision,strengthen external supervision,concentrate supervision force,perfect early-warning risk assessment mechanism and improve accountability system are put forward in this paper,in a bid to deal with the new challenges and new problems occurring in the current supervision of cadre selection.
