Higher vocational education is an important part of China’s education,which provides a strong talent and intellectual support for China’s economic and social development.With the rapid progress of the information society,the internet and information technology are widely used in the field of education.A teaching mode of Flipped Classroomwas born,which places learning knowledge before class,internalizing knowledge in class and consolidating knowledge after class.It completely overturns the traditional teaching model.The rapid development of tourism puts forward higher requirements for tourism practitioners,so the teaching mode of tourism management needs to be reformed in higher vocational colleges.The paper studied the domestic and foreign status quo of "Flipped Classroom" by referring to relevant literature.It defined some relevant concepts.In addition,this paper makes an in-depth analysis from four aspects: the concept and connotation of flipped classroom teaching,the main mode,the main difference between flipped classroom teaching and traditional teaching and the teaching application research.It expounds the necessity of implementing this mode in the tourism management major of higher vocational colleges.Under the guidance of constructivist learning theory,humanistic learning theory,mastery learning theory and hybrid learning theory,this paper constructs the teaching model of "flipped classroom" and carries out the instructional design by combining the flipped classroom teaching theory and the classroom teaching characteristics of tourism management in higher vocational colleges.The author conducts teaching practice of flipped classroom in a basic theory course and a practical course.Byusingthe questionnaire survey method,interview method,experiment method and classroom observation method,the author analyzed the students’ academic performance,learning interest,comprehensive quality and other aspects of the situation.Thereout,it is proved that this model can improve the students’ learning efficiency and promote the development of teachers’ professional quality in higher vocational colleges.Thus it can be seen that applying "flipped classroom" teaching mode is feasible and necessary in tourism management major ofhigher vocational colleges.Some suggestions are also put forward for applying the teaching model.This paper actively explores the new teaching mode of tourism management major in higher vocational colleges and provides practical reference for other researchers.
