| Poverty is one of the most serious economic and social problems in the world today. It is also a major issue that has long affected world peace, stability, and social development.Eliminating poverty has become an urgent issue for governments around the world.Since the reform and opening up in 1978,China’s poverty alleviation and development work has achieved world-renowned achievements after40 years of unremitting efforts, and has also made great contributions to the world’s poverty alleviation and the UN Millennium Plan.Although considerable progress has been made in poverty reduction in China, the party and government still face very difficult tasks in the current poverty reduction phase. In China’s poverty alleviation work in the past, problems such as lack of specificity and inaccuracy of poverty alleviation funds have led to problems that directly lead to a gap between the actual poverty reduction effect and the expected effect. Some poor groups still have not obtained actual life. The situation improved. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council have issued relevant policies on the basis of realistic backgrounds.Taking the "Decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Winning the Fight Against Poverty and Fighting Tough Fights" issued on November 29,2015 as an example, the "Decision" proposed to achieve " The goal of "two cares, three guarantees" not only promotes poverty reduction to an important position in government work, but also sets specific goals and directions for the new phase of poverty reduction work.In the past few decades,China’s poverty alleviation work has made quite remarkable achievements. Most of the poor in the region have achieved poverty alleviation, and only a few scattered families are still in poverty.Considering the current distribution characteristics of poor areas and poor groups, starting in 2013,China has gradually shifted to a model of targeted poverty alleviation.Targeted poverty alleviation can accurately locate the poor groups, and poverty alleviation is more targeted.Self-employment as a form of employment can bring continuous income to practitioners.Encouraging the poor to engage in self-employment may be a new way to help the poor. The purpose of this article is to analyze the poverty reduction effects of self-employment employment from an empirical perspective. From a theoretical perspective,self-employment employment as a part that cannot be ignored in the overall economy may play a role in solving employment and increasing income. In the theoretical analysis part, this article first sorts out the context of previous studies at home and abroad, and then discusses the actual mechanism of self-employment in rural areas to play a role in reducing poverty, linking poverty to income and poverty levels. In the empirical analysis section, this article attempts to explore the role of self-employment from two perspectives: macro and micro. At the macro level, this paper selects the rural poverty rate and self-employment rate of 31 provinces andmunicipalities in China from 2010 to 2016 as samples, and selects a series of factors as control variables, and uses a first-order difference model to process the data.At the micro level, this article selects the 2013 China residents’ income distribution data released by the China Income Distribution Research Institute as a sample, and uses the data to process. After the regression results are obtained, the basic principles of self-employment poverty reduction effects are explained through comprehensive analysis, relevant conclusions are drawn, and policy recommendations are made based on this. |
