The Influential Mechanism Of Undergraduates’ Diversity Experiences On Their Employability | | Posted on:2022-04-30 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:X Yang | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2507306524482814 | Subject:Business Administration | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | The employment of undergraduates has been a social issue of great public concern in recent years.As the number of graduates in the labor market increases year by year,employers have correspondingly raised the requirements for selecting employees.So,the lack of employability of graduates has become the underlying problem behind the difficult employment phenomenon.Students are engaged in effective educational activities during university is a key factor affecting their ability development,however,the question of how university experience causes individual employability differences remains to be answered by empirical findings.Based on the above background,this thesis adopts the research paradigm of “student engagement-harvest and development”,and empirically analyzes the influential mechanism of undergraduates’ diversity experiences on their employability from the perspective of students’ experiences based on the student engagement theory and conservation of resources theory.In addition,the moderating role of learning goal orientation was considered.This thesis constructs a research model of “diversity experience-social capital and psychological capital-employability”,data from a sample of 310 undergraduates were collected through a questionnaire survey,and hierarchical regression and Bootstrap methods were employed to testify the proposed research hypotheses.The results of data analysis show that:(1)undergraduates’ diversity experiences play a positive role on employability;(2)social capital and psychological capital play a mediating role between diversity experiences and employability respectively;(3)learning goal orientation positively moderates the relationship between diversity experiences and social capital,as well as the relationship between diversity experiences and psychological capital.Finally,this thesis offers some suggestions for individuals and universities respectively to develop and enhance undergraduates’ employability.The main innovations and contributions of this thesis are:(1)this thesis is based on the learning experiences of undergraduates during their school years and explores the influential mechanism of undergraduates’ diversity experiences on their employability,which enriches the empirical research on the influencing factors of employability in the university context to a certain extent;(2)this thesis uses social capital and psychological capital as mediating variables to reveal the influential mechanism of undergraduates’ diversity experiences on their employability,while broadening the application of social capital theory and psychological capital theory in university student;(3)this paper uses learning goal orientation as an intensifying individual-level attribute to explore its moderating effect on the process mechanism of diversity experiences on employability,which improves the above mechanism and develops related research on learning goal orientation. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | employability, diversity experiences, social capital, psychological capital, learning goal orientation | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
