Analysis And Countermeasures Of Listening And Understanding Disorders

In April 2019,the author of this paper(hereafter referred to as “the author”)served as the interpreter for “The International Conference on the harmless treatment of Rice Straw”,doing alternative interpreting and some liaison interpreting for the conference.During this interpreting practice,the author encountered some difficulties,mainly in listening comprehension.This report is mainly based on the analysis of the difficulties in listening comprehension and the strategies taken by the author.The difficulties of listening comprehension mainly exist in the following aspects,namely accent and grammatical mistakes of Cambodia English,the redundancy of speaker,the interpreter's lack of professional knowledge in agriculture and the overload of numbers and units of land area.In view of these difficulties,the author puts forward her own strategies,such as listening for the main information,omission and combination,paraphrase and inquiry,as well as fuzzy translation.In the end,the report also reflects and summarizes the author's practice and proposes that the interpreter should have certain political consciousness and professionalism.Through analyzing the specific cases in this practice report and sharing the strategies used in the interpretation practice,The author would like to combine the theoretical knowledge and skills of interpretation learned in class with this practice and summarize this practice in a better way.In addition,the author hopes to improve her professional ability,so as to accumulate more experience to becoming a professional interpreter.At the same time,the author hopes that this thesis can be of help to other English learners and interpreters.
